Boogie to NOLA (1 Viewer)

The Pels just stuck the middle finger to small ball lol

Pleeeeeease let Golden State try to play Draymond Green at the 5 while AD and Boogie are both on the floor in the playoffs. They better hit every single 3 point shot they take if they're giving away 2 free points every trip down the court.

Boogie is gonna cost around 200 million to keep. It's a gamble I would take. Warriors have got to be sweating knowing they will face that front court in the playoffs (I'm assuming the Pelicans overtake the Nuggets now)

AD and Boogie on the floor at the same time is GSW kryptonite. I don't think we would win a playoff series against them but taking them to a game 5 or 7 is certainly doable.

The question is will he want to stay here.

My reaction when I picked up my phone this morning:

raw

That's what they are hoping. With AD and him being close to home and all. Plus if they upset the Warriors in the 1st round why wouldn't he want to stay?

It's not like Dell was going to use those picks to draft anyone for the Pel's roster anyway...

It's crazy that the SECOND best thing that happened for Anthony Davis last night was scoring 52 points and winning the MVP of the All Star Game on his home court.

This is the most critical part. Did we get any assurances that he will sign here long term? He acted surprised about the trade so you have to assume we didn't talk to him before we made the trade and we have faith that we can get him to sign here when his contract expires. At least he has family in close, in Alabama I believe.

We can't offer him more money than any other team, so it will be interesting. We just swung for the fences and it's Boogie or Bust!

Good read on the trade:
http://www.si.com/nba/2017/02/20/demarcus-cousins-trade-pelicans-kings-grades

"On top of all that, Cousins contract expires in 2018, which could make him nothing more than a glorified rental if he doesn’t re-sign with New Orleans—though the Pelicans have the option of trading him again next year."

So if we can't sign him, we'll trade him.

I read this morning that no one from the Pelicans spoke to Cousins' agents before the trade, so there are no assurances that he will sign long term. With that said the Pelicans will have the ability to offer him more money than any other team (though not as much as the Kings could have before the trade), and if this works on the court like it should -- the only real risk being that Boogie melts down and refuses to share the spotlight with AD -- I can't imagine why he wouldn't re-sign.

Even if he leaves the Pelicans had to take the chance. The reward potential is massive, and the risk is what, Buddy Hield or a non top 3 pick next year becoming a superstar?

Thanks, I didn't know that. I did see we have the option to trade him too.

I agree. A small market team with AD does have to make some bold moves to try and make something happen. I like it.

He didn't look happy at first, but he was quick to flash a smile talk about loving New Orleans.
