Boycott Chuck Norris! (a new blog) (1 Viewer)

Although I don't agree with Huckabee or Romney with regard to their personal Religious beliefs, I'm on common footing with them from a political policy perspective.

Considering that one of them, despite his variety of social stances from time to time as suits convenience, remains wealthy to this day on the basis of an investment banking and hedge fund career, and the other is just about to start the socialist wing of the Republican party, just what is the common footing you three have from a political policy perspective?

* - From Godtube...My brother is married to a former Mormon and she indicates this is a fundamentally correct representation of the Religion. If this isn't, please note I haven't posted this to indict the Religion, only to provide a basic overview.

If this is true then they are no better the Jehovah's Witness' or Scientologists. Maybe L. Ron Hubbard was a former Mormon and just embellished his story a little.:hihi:

That was interesting to say the least. I didn't realize that Jesus was Mormon and had no clue that "God" came down and had sex with the virgin Mary. And the poor black people, :dunno:

I agree with the major premise in your thread; but I'd like to point out that political intolerance based on a person's personal belief is really at play here.

In some ways it is. But in other ways it isn't.

It's not just about personal belief or opinion. I mean, there's a huge difference between saying that you don't believe in evolution and saying you don't like the taste of yams, or that you didn't think Star Wars was watchable. There's more involved in not only stating you don't believe in evolution, but stating it publicly and in the context of a Presidential Debate carries different meaning.

If Huckabee has been presented all the evidence, weighed it all logically and thoughtfully, and just come to the conclusion that he doesn't believe evolution, then I think many people wouldn't have a problem with it even if it baffles them how he could come to that conclusion. However, most people who state they do not believe in evolution very often fall into the same lazy logic of "we didn't evolve from apes!" or "it's just a theory, so why treat it as science." That to many people signifies a deeper misunderstanding that on a fundamental level they wouldn't want as the leader of the country.

Excellent way to put it, V-Chip.

It's like he's saying "The evidence for evolution conflicts with a predetermined ideology of mine, therefore it must be rejected out of hand."

Well, sometimes as President you get bad news. The world isn't always the way you want it to be and when you ignore the evidence, you might wind up spending a trillion dollars someplace overseas trying to force the world to be like you want it instead of repairing levees, bridges and such back home.

Gravity- not in the bible
Creation- In the bible
winner- Creation

if you are meaning to say evolution is not true because its not in the bible - im wondering how much scientific study was going on at that time on evolution

It was a joke. See the posts above my original post.

Personally I don't care about evolution. Most of the Science world says it happened. Most of the Religion world said it didn't. Nobody will get both sides to completely agree without a youtube video of god creating man or an ape giving birth to a human.
