For the first time since 2002, the Indianapolis Colts' Peyton Manning is not the first-team quarterback on The Associated Press NFL All-Pro team.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees edged Manning 25 to 24 in voting by a nationwide panel of sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL.

The former Purdue quarterback, who was joined on the All-Pro squad by Saints second-year tackle Jammal Brown, engineered the turnaround in New Orleans from 3-13 to 10-6 and an NFC South division title. The Saints will play Philadelphia in a divisional playoff game on Saturday.

That's great. Brees finally gets a much-deserved award.

As much as I love Brees, Manning is the better QB in my opinion.

C'mon man I respect your opinion but you gotta at least give some semblance of a reason.

Hopefully after this season Brees will have a Superbowl MVP and Peyton will still be known for his playoff blunders!

As much as I love Manning, Brees had a better season...why post something negative here?

And props tp Jammal Brown, and the men who gave up an extra third-round pick just to move up three spots to get him.

In retrospect, worth it to get arguably the premier LT in football today? Certainly, huge props for Jonathan Ogden, who also deserved it equally, but wow. Props to the GM and his staff, and even to Haslett, who clearly seemed to be on board with this when we did it. Great, great job.

Brown was Loomis' call ;)

The trade put the Saints right were they wanted to be and in position to get their top choice, Oklahoma T Jammal Brown.

"I think we were really successful with the first pick," Loomis said. "Jammal was a guy we targeted early. I think most people expected us to go in another direction, though there was some talk about us picking him. I would have preferred not to have to give up something to move up, but we thought there was a chance someone might come in from behind us and take him right before we picked, and we didn't want to risk that in the end. We had other options, we had other guys we might have taken, but we felt like Jammal was the best pick for us, for the immediate impact."

Meanwhile, Haslett's assessment
I love the guy, he's the type of right tackle we were looking for," Haslett said. "He's a big guy, he has great size, great strength and is a mauler-type. He is more of a right tackle
