I don't get the second opinion part, obviously it's a serious injury so do your due diligence, but if something is torn it needs to be corrected asap. I don't think this is something he can get by and wait until the off season with pain management.
Well, you are correct and here's where it gets scary for Saints fans...
Why would you get a second opinion, typically? Well, typically it's when the first opinion is "unsatisfactory" and you are holding out hope that there is a more favorable view or approach to your injury/illness.
So the optimist might say "Drew is doing due diligence before he commits to being out 6 weeks with surgery" where the pessimist might think "Drew heard he's done for the year and is looking for a possible alternative that allows his to, in some way, salvage the season".
I'm deeply concerned by this.
