Brees Last Dance (1 Viewer)

No it isn't delusional at all. Folks change their minds everyday. Because as he said himself as long as he's healthy and still playing at a high level why not? What is fairly delusional is to assume you know what he will do.
He never assumed, he said there's a good chance which he is right. By reports he nearly retired after last season. He's been carrying a two year contract for the last few seasons to delay his salary/cap hit so we can keep talent on the team with him. By all indicators, the probability leans to this being his final year, so sit back and enjoy the last ride.

he isn't the only one that is part of the decision. There is a coach a GM and there is father time. Im glad he came back, I wanted it to happen. But I pray that time doesn't catch up to him this year as it already seems to have with Tom Brady. Its not a coincidence that almost all QBs are done between 38 and 41. Marino, Elway, Favre, Manning... The thing isn't gradual; its a slippery slope.

Hi all, I hope you are staying safe and healthy during this challenging time. I miss all my WHODATS!

I have been thinking, if this is Brees last season, then I truly hope he goes out with another SB. I know how magical the 2009 season was for all of us and nothing will ever dampen that and yet I often feel a sense of disappointment that Brees only won one SB with the Saints. I'm shocked that the Saints never developed a defense that would help him be competitive for the big one. It is utterly shocking. How could Payton overlook this? Also, will our 2009 SB always be attributed to our opportunistic Gregg Williams run defense? Was that the only year the Saints fielded a formidable defense? Also, I know how bad we got robbed in 2018 but then we end up losing to the Vikings last year on our revenge tour? That doesn't make any sense. Anyway, as a Saints fan, I will always love the Saints, but I am still frustrated that we took one of the greatest players to ever step on the field and weren't able to help him win more championships. We aren't going to get another Drew Brees in my lifetime. There are only a handful of humans out there with those capabilities and they won't be coming our way anytime soon. What do you guys thin? Should we just get over it? Or do we need to make a big stink about this? I was thinking we should be letting all the defensive players know they weren't ever able to put it together. Cam Jordan, I am talking to you man.
Yep, we probably won’t see another Brees like QB playing for the saints, but I’m okay with that. Any defensive failures are at the hands of CSP at this point. He’s the one constant during the years. Players come and go, but giving up the big play in the last 2 min remains. Dennis Allen just seems to choke in 2 min drills and puts his players in the worst spot.

I’m actually excited to see the saints after Brees, it’ll be challenging, but CSP has been building the trench’s so who ever takes over won’t have to be the savior.

The difference between Drew Brees and you being an NFL QB, is Drew Brees became OBSESSED with playing QB.

He is average height, average build, average arm talent. I give him props for developing above average athleticism...I attribute that to playing tennis. But really, he became obssessed with playing QB and played and studied how to play QB every minute of every day.

If there is a young man that wants to developed himself into a QB of Drew SKILL, he'd simply need to study and work as hard as Drew.

Drew's work ethic developed his skills to play QB, Drew wasn't born the way he is.

When Coach Pete led his high school team against Brees/Westlake in the playoffs, Pete said that he had never seen a high school, or for that matter college QB who had Brees awareness of the defense and the ability to predictively find the best player/spot for the pass. And he said that Brees had rare leadership. That's why Pete would drive a couple of hundred miles if necessary, when Pete's own team wasn't playing, to watch Brees every chance he could.

I agree 100% with what you say about work ethic, but apparently Brees has always had the supreme cerebral mind of QB.

We always seem to forget history and history always seems to repeat. There have been numerous championships won after a star QB has left, or even been hurt in season, with a backup QB. It happens because teams often overly depend on a star QB.

From what I understand, he graduated college with an engineering degree...so, yes, he does have intellect above you average football player. Still though, work ethic will beat talent any day...eventually talent gets lazy and work ethic, consistency, and routine come out the victor.

Brees probably out there finding specialist who have new methods on improving velocity. Who knows? I won't believe Brees isn't coming back until we've played 3 games with a new starting QB

Yep, and I'm tired of hearing this crap! He signed for two years, but many want to kick him out the door for some reason? I could care a less about the next QB until #9 says, "I'm done playing football "!!!

I personally think that Tom Brady coming to the NFC South will keep Brees from retiring. This is Drew's shot to play Brady head to head twice a year. Don't think for a moment that Brees wants Brady to become the best QB in the NFC South. Brees has a chance to prove once and for all that he can beat Brady head to head and prove who the GOAT should be.
