METAIRIE, La. - The New Orleans Saints played so much to coach Sean Payton's liking that the first-year mentor gave his 6-2 team Monday off.
But it wasn't an off day for quarterback Drew Brees.
If you had poked your head into the hedges and peered through the windscreen around 1 p.m. at the team's practice facility, you would've seen Brees throwing passes and working on his mechanics.
This coming 24 hours after a near-flawless performance in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He went 24-for-32 through the air for 314 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
