Close to extension per a league source. A little skeptical because it doesn't shed any new information... But it's something at least!!

Who dat!

Our cap would be better next year if we don't do an extension but who wants to go into next year with Brees as a free agent? Not me so let's get this deal done and maybe look into a trade for a Guard that we can now afford.

Just get it over with, extensions for everyone. It's not my money, so who cares

Hopefully Drew leaves us enough money to put some elite talent around him especially on defense

That will be done as soon as the $36 million of dead cap money is off the books

As disheartening as this preseason has been at times, this would definitely be a happy energy boost for the start of the season.

So it seems that it is around 24-25 million per year, and I don't have a problem with that if it allow us to cut him by year 3 without a big cap hit. Not that I want this to happen, but we should be prepared for the uncertainty.

I'm hoping for a 3 year 10 million total deal but I am realistically expecting 4yrs 24 per year and honestly I would be happy with that at this point.
