Brees..Season for the Ages..article (1 Viewer)

Great read....note that when the Falcons traded up in the 2001 draft to pick a QB named Vick as the #1 pick, they essentially passed on "2nd best" QB of the draft named Drew Brees. As result the Chargers got LaDanian Tomlinson, Drew Brees, and Shawn Merriman.

Vick, Brees, Heupfel, Weinke, and Tomlinson were all Heisman candidates that year, with the award going to Weinke. But it's clear that Brees and Tomlinson were the best of that group.

Luckily for us, the Chargers managed to bumble their way to let Brees come to the Saints with minimal compensation from the league.

Brees for MVP and Comeback Player of the Year!

Go Saints!!!

Shawn Merriman actually was a part of the Eli Manning deal, not the Mike Vick deal. And Drew Brees had a great season last year, so he probably won't be considered for Comeback Player of the Year (even though he was injured at the end of last year, I don't think that applies to this award). But as for MVP, he's got my vote.

Great Article Great Read Thanks for posting. Brees for MVP Comeback player of the Year.

And All-Pro QB. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE.Oh yeah and he's leading the FED XPlayer voting.

I stand corrected....Merriman was part of the Rivers-Manning swap. Thanks.

Thanks for the link!

It's cool reading that sports reporters from different parts of the country are saying that he deserves the MVP award.....
