Before the seaon, it seemed like the national press was thinking of Brees as a gamble. Even before his injury and surgery, thay said he did not have the arm strenght for the bomb. Maybe these long passes. This may be mostly YAC, but I don't think that level of analysis is esp. relevant. I have to admit this does even surprise me. You think of Peyton or Carson Palmer as leading this category.

"... leading the league with 41 completions of 25 yards or more. He had eight 300-yard passing games during the regular season for an offense so diverse that 10 receivers had at least 14 receptions."

You didn't know? As a part of the league wide conspieracy Brees throwing arm was replaced with a bionic cannon capable of launching balls a quarter mile!

No YAC here. I have seen more long passes completed this year than in the last 5 years combined.

yeah, he was 10 of 12 on pass plays over 30 yards in the regular season. It definitely took a couple of games for Brees to regain full arm strength and velocity though.

I have been proven wrong about brees, I have ate plenty of crow on this issue, but I will state again that I would have bet a months pay he would have reinjured that arm again by week 2...I was SOOOO wrong.. and Im glad
