I was going to create a thread about this. I think Brees will restructure his contract at some point...either this year or next year. And the sole purpose of it will be to free up money to pay Jimmy Graham.

Add 3 more years to his deal and change some of the money to guaranteed money and we will be good to go...I have seen that done before. :)

I dont think there is a player in the league not willing to restructure if it means more guaranteed dollars and cash in their pocket.

Standard Operating Procedure under Loomis, of course he would restructure his deal. Who in their right mind wouldn't want a boat load of cash now compared to later

Brees's deal was pretty much set up to restrucutre, so I dont know why so many people on here were jumping all over him for being greedy.

The first 3 years of Brees's deal had about as much cap impact as Brady's, while ballooning in the final 2. It was pretty obvious it was set up to get him a good bit of guaranteed money and the moniker of "highest paid QB', while still leaving wiggle room for a restructure later that wouldnt kill our cap.

If we restructured him he would not getting any more cash in his pocket now. We would be extending his years and upping the guaranteed money. Still a win – win for brees

This is not newsworthy. Everyone is "willing to consider" a restructure. He did not say he was willing to consider less pay. I am going to jump to another thread and let Loomis do his magic.

Interesting. I seem to recall an article that said his "window" to restructure ended 3 days after the Super Bowl because some portion of the contract became guaranteed under the contract then. Maybe the article was incorrect or there is something else he can do.
