I'm sure it'll be just as open as the QB competition between Jeff Blake and Aaron Brooks a few years back

Or the one between Aaron Brooks and Jake Delhomme.

I'm going to take Loomis at his word when he said that PT was "not ready" to take on a bigger role in the offense early in the season and not assume that there was some kind of psychological positioning to protect Bush or some such. I still say that the more playmakers the merrier.

I agree that we should take Loomis at his word about PT's readiness in regard to the early season. I think, though, that by mid-season his role in the offense should have been expanded. I'm not saying he should have been starting, b/c Steck was also playing well, but I do think Payton tried to push Bush into Deuce's role, and it just didn't work out very well. In defense of Payton, Bush was the #2 RB on the depth chart coming into the season, and he was being paid to be a starter. Nevertheless, it seems apparent to me that Bush should be used like he was much of his first season, as a decoy, a satellite, a receiver, a specialist, and an occasional RB. I think if we try to use him to run the ball 20 times a game, he's going to get injured again. I also think PT is more decisive at hitting the hole and has a knack for cutting back that Bush lacks. I think Bush could be a great specialist back for us and should be used more in the vertical passing game. I also think that with the right coaching he might become a Devon Hester type on punt and kick returns. The fact is he didn't produce anything close to the combined yardage PT got in just one start last year, even though he had several starts. Who knows, maybe that will motivate him to become a better player in the offseason.

...Much was blamed on the defense and rightly so but its telling that this team had no offensive pro bowlers when its supposed to be their strength?

Well now, the pro bowl is a popularity contest more than it is an actual reflection of play. Just look at how many Cowboys made it in.

blah blah blah..I cant believe you guys are really falling for this. The draft is coming up..you know, the time when people starting trying to tear prospects to find anything wrong with their game...we heard the same thing about AD last year. Coming out, AD wasnt in AD's league.

PT isn't in the SAME STRATOSPHERE as Mcfadden. As a matter of fact, neither is Reggie Bush

McFadden is going to show up at the combine 6 '2' 215-220lbs and going to run in the 4.3's. He has proven himself as an elite runner and athlete in the SEC since he was a true freshman, all while being the best QB on his team. You can bookmark this post.

"He ran for 105 yards on 20 carries and caught 12 passes for another 121 yards. Reggie Bush has never had an NFL game like that. Fact is, I'd take Thomas over McFadden, straight up. In a heartbeat."

Brian Baldy is hands down one of my most respected NFL analysts. This man STUDIES film like you wouldn't believe and knows his #$#$. AN expert.

"REGGIE BUSH HAS NEVER HAD A GAME LIKE THAT" Reggie is by far my favorite player, I just wish he would hurry up and learn how to make it happen in the NFL.

That same Bear defense pretty much stifled the so called superback Adrian Peterson 2 weeks prior to playing the Saints. They also held Green Bay's back in check. It makes Pt's game even more special IMO.

Well even though they held the rookie Peterson to 78 yards in their second meeting, AD killed them for well over 200 yards and several td's the first time they played. And while they slowed Peterson down a few weeks ago, the Vikings still ran for 136 yards at 4 ypc in that game.

And I'm not sure where the Green Bay thing is coming from. The Bears did hold them to 7 points, picking Favre off twice. But Ryan Grant (the back they apparently held in check) ran for 100 yards on only 14 carries (including Green Bay's only td that day).

The Bears were terrible at stopping the run this year, let's be real about that. Of course what Thomas did was fantastic, a great game is a great game. But the Bears getting beat up in the running game was nothing new this year.

Until that Bears game I thought for sure our best option in round 1 was to take a RB. Even thought moving up for Darren was best move available. Not any more.

Pierre represents our next Marques.

I said in preseason PT was gonna be it! Problem was he didn't get allot of opportunities and had a slight injury where he was spitting up blood! PT not only runs well, but is shifty, in that first contact is not gonna get him down. That was why the Coaches kept him instead of our 4th round draft pick! I can't wait till next season with a year of off season development to watch him next preseason! I love Duece, but i like PT also! If the Duece can't go i want fret so much, because i know The PT Cruiser will roll on!

I'll give you that, but it was still impressive. I don't think Reggie could have gotten 100/100 in that game.

I certainly didn't want to give the impression that it wasn't impressive. Like I said, a great game is a great game. I was very proud of Thomas' effort and production.

I was just responding to the post kind of pumping up Chicago's defense, when they were actually quite bad at stopping the run this year. But again, that doesn't change the fact that Thomas played great!
