I don't get into politics as much as many of you but I did find this interesting. You think it has to do with his waining popularity due to the war and his coziness with Bush? I heard he was stepping down but this is first mention of a specific date.

Please don't turn this into a Bush bash thread. Just asking for speculation as to why Blair decided to step down.

He's had a heck of a run. I think he set history by being the longest serving PM in a single stretch.

Sorry to see him go, but Prime Ministers know when they're rowing upstream and it's time to call it quits. Prime Minister Blair was a great friend of the United States and did a lot of good in the UK. I'm sorry to see him go. He was probably one of my favorite world leaders of the last 15 years.
