I remember in basic way back (95) we had to drink until we just about threw up. I’m happy they made us do that tho as my dumb arse did basic in the summer months at Fort Jackson. It was a tad hot.Yeah we never got water breaks when I was in grade school. Now you go out to a practice and they all have their own water jugs.

Yeah I did mine in June-July. I know we had to drink a certain number of glasses at each meal. I don’t remember how many it was. But they were all on your tray and you couldn’t leave until they were all empty.
At Jackson? I don’t remember them doing that with us, but when we had the canteens we had to drink drink drink. “Beat the heat drill sergeant beat the heat!”
I was Charlie 413, funny how I remember that…my Dad did basic there about 20 years before me and stayed in the old barracks on tank hill, which we ran every day. I’m pretty sure y’all ran tank hill too.
Very familiar with Lackland as I did AIT at Fort Sam. It does indeed get hot there too.Air Force. Lackland. San Antonio. Quite hot in June-July. My dad did his at the same place as me as well. He stayed in some old WWII barracks even though he went in during Vietnam.
If I could go back I would’ve gone in the army. They offered me everything I asked for. A 2 year enlistment as an air traffic controller in Hawaii. But in the end I was too comfortable with the AF with my dad, step dad, and grandfather having all retired from it.
