Last night on the "late hits" show on Sirius, Gill Brandt said that he spoke to a Saints coach, and that coach told him that Bushrod wants more money than Jahri Evans got.

I find this comical......if true, of course....

What you all think of this?....its crazy, isn't it?

Crazy all right. Bushrod should know better than to think the Saints need him that much. They don't.

If true, then it makes our decisions that much easier. Time to move on.

We comparing tackles and guards? Tackles get paid alot more, and Evans deal was years ago so I don't know. Can someone make a comparison?

Comparing Tackles and Guards league wide isn't the same as comparing Tackles and Guards per the Saints. We value Guards a lot more than Tackles.

Well, I was hoping that we could re-sign him to a reasonable, cap friendly contract n then move him to RT. But if this is true then he can kick rocks. Let another team overpay for his overhyped probowl appearances

Jahri Evans got $8.1M per year, no way we give Bushrod that. He's worth $5M per year max in my opinion. If this is true, I say let him hit the market and find his value there. I don't blame him for trying to cash in, but someone needs to bring him back to reality - and if someone wants to pay him that, good for him.

Well, a tackle is worth more than a guard. If he places that type of value on his ability it will be interesting to see who agrees with him.

Best of luck to him in all his future endeavors if that's the case.

Sean Payton doesn't agree with you that a tackle is worth more than a guard

I had a feeling Bushrod's price would be unrealistic. Jake Long is asking for 10-11mil a year and Andre Smith is asking for 9mil.

I really hope these guys get less than what they're asking for.

I'd rather give Jake Long what he wants than go all out on Bushrod

If top tackles are asking for 10-12 million and Bushrod is asking for Jahri money which is 7 or 8 million how is he being over the top?

Bushrods Cap hit this year was almost 7 milion

I would guess he could command about $7 million a year. With Grubbs and Evans already highly paid, our best move would be a top rookie or up and coming young player. However, that is certainly risky.
