Doing the best thing for the economy is not what this action is about. What a great way to cripple the economy even more

We're saving lives now. The economy will have to wait.
I'm not saying that people won't have anything to complain about.Agreed, here in Quebec ( and most of Canada) we had the same decision, and no one is complaining.

I certainly do understand all of that. I will be one of those people you are talking about.Do you realize that lives will be lost due to people not being able to pay their rent or afford food? It's not about saving the ultra wealthy, they'll be fine either way with all of the trillions being printed and handed out. It's going to hurt the lowest income individuals the hardest (as always). Not to mention the loss of life down the road from the repercussions of inflation by way of 'printing' trillions to prop up companies that should have to go through chapter 11. It was their decision to try and eke out an extra 1-2% on the bottom line instead of having some capital reserves built up. They should take the fall not our future generations.

I don't claim to have any answers, but I do know that 35-40K people die in USA traffic accidents every year. You can bank on it. So, I ask an honest question, do we all stop driving to stop the deaths?Due to the nature of the way the virus spreads I'll be shocked if we can ever get rid of it. All we are doing is preventing hospitals from overcrowding temporarily. A month after the economy restarts we'll be right back in the same spot we are now.
