If Jared Cook didn't have the worst hands of all time in the 2020 playoff game against the bucs, Brees would have gone 3-0 against Brady in the same season and won his second Super Bowl.

It wasn't in the playoffs but he beat Brady during the regular season that year with the greatest QB game of all time.

I know this is a debate us Saints fans will have til the day we die, and obviously rankings are purely subjective...for better or worse, we will NEVER see another QB don the Black and Gold as good as Drew, so while its easy to say to state his greatness b/c of what he means to this franchise/city, when you compare him to others, unfortunately you have to also include accolades that other QBs simply surpass him in (SB wins, MVPs, etc.), but when you consider things such as A) he seemed to always have a lackluster defense until the latter part of his Saints career, when his arm was unfortunately waning B) although he had what many us would consider "good", he never had any real elite pass catchers unless you include prime Jimmy Graham (Brady, as an example, also had such a TE in Gronk, but he also had elite wideouts receivers like Wes Welker, Randy Moss, etc.) C) he overcame an injury that would force others to retire, instead he overcame it and became (i say became b/c we all know its going to happen) a 1st ballot Hall of Famer.

I still think his 2011 season should have won a MVP, and the fact someone like Matt Ryan and Cam Newton both won an MVP and Drew never did shows you that award voting needs a rework. Eli Manning and Brett Favre both got lauded pretty heavily during their careers for their longevity and games started w/o missing a start, but i think Drew should also be commended too for his endurance, especially considering his smaller stature compared to the former two players. I know the Saints invested heavily on the Oline during Drews time, so yes that had a lot to do with it too, but i bet you there were only a handful of players, if that, that took care of their body and mind as good as Drew did during his time as a Saints.

Me personally i think hes in the top 5 easily, unfortunately the fact he only won 1 SB is what bumps him down a notch (what a shame we didnt win another in 2011 and 2019), i think with 3 SBs and an MVP, which i think we can all agree he should won at least 1, we could make the argument as the best of all-time, but yeah...it is what is.

Try a different approach. Close your eyes and imagine without gagging, that DB had the EXACT SAME CAREER... Same misfortunes... all of it.. wearing that god-awful Star on his helmet... The media wanted Tony frigging Romo in the HOF... If DB had the same career in Dallas (hold on while I gag) they would be making my case for me... That DB = GOAT and it's not even close

Brees didn't get his first truly game breaking Wide Receiver until Michael Thomas. It is absolutely diabolical to think about how little the Saints actually gave Brees to work with for almost his entire career here.

Well, he had Colston, Cooks, and eventually MT.
If we are not to get technical with the WR talk, he was given some weapons. Yes, I know he got the most out of Moore, Snead, Meachem, Stills, etc…..but also factor in the receiving abilities of Reggie, Sproles, PT, and Shockey, he had a good arsenal overall to throw to. Our Gulf Coast offense was LEGIT scary for opponents. Too bad SP couldn’t figure out how to consistently maintain a balanced team (looking at the defensive side of the ball).

Considering the consensus "goat" is a cheating, stat padding piece of flotsam who got embarrassed by Brees every time they played (with the exception of those games that the refs were blind to holding on the patriots lines, the new england receivers pushing off and the PIs by belicheat's d'backs), I'd say that aside from the Superbowls (the number of which was augmented by being in the perennially worst division in professional sports), Drew's numbers are better than Brady's. At least head to head.
