looks like a type of Garden orb weaver,they build huge webs and are generally harmless.

Although this one is not the same as your's,this orb weaver was on the side of my house building a web between my house and the neighbors...can you say who dat!

Definitely looks like some type of Spiny Orb Weaver but the pic is a little blurry.

I get these all the time in my yard.

But there are many varieties of Orb Weavers and many look like they have a crab shell on their back.

The good news is that the large abdomen indicates the spider is more likely some kind of web weaving spider instead of stalker type. They're generally not poisonous are dangerous to humans.


But to be sure I'm going to need you to get someone else to record you while you go up and poke it.

We need a closer picture, with something to show the size of the spider.

(I won't have a clue what kind it is, I just want a closer look at the cool spider.)

I feel like it MIGHT be a Spined Micrathena Spider but I have no idea what that white band running across the middle it.
