Can component cables carry 1080p? (1 Viewer)

Yea...don't buy cables from BBY. It's the highest marked-up item in the store, by far. Employee discount on that same cable is about 6 or 7 bucks.

If you're paying more than $10 for an HDMI cable, then you're getting ripped off. You can find the standard 6ft cables on ebay for 4 bucks, if that much. It amazes me how the retail stores can get away with charging so much for them. "Try our super special HDMI cable for only $40!" Psssh, yeah right .

Echoing "technically yes they can" and also "but they don't". There used to be sources that allowed it, so it's definitely possible, but sources don't allow it anymore. May as well just use HDMI, it's better anyway.

I laugh every time I see someone buying one of those expensive cables at Best Buy...
Suckers..lol..

I dont see much difference between digital components and HDMI. Just less cluster and wires to deal with in the HDMI route.

It's composites that are obviously less quality.
