We could go ahead and cut the players we are paying WAY to much Byrd, Fleener etc. We could have over half our cap in dead money but we are tanking so what. It will free up a bunch of money next year and in the future. We couuld play young players. Getting them some game experience and maybe finding a few diamonds in the rough. We will lose but thats ok because that turns into the first pick in the draft next year. With the 1st we could trade down and get a boatload of picks. We would have rid ourselves of bad contracts, have a bunch of primo draft picks PLUS 40-50 million in salary cap room. All from tanking one season that even if we tried our best 8-8 would be struggle to reach.

We could use the cap space and draft picks to build a dynasty defense. Drew has maybe one more year after this with a great defense we might be able to get one more Super Bowl with him. What do you guys think?

We don't have to tank. If you want to lose, we just have to go out there and play.

Even if we did tank and got the #1 draft pick and had $40 million cap space I wouldn't be all that confident for next year.

Cutting Fleener and Byrd does not = more money next year.

It's the opposite in fact.

Didn't think I'd say this when I first started reading but yes, I agree. It makes sense.

We MUST put Drew in a position too win before he retires, and do so NOW. People keep saying we are rebuilding, but why would you rebuild when you have a HOF QB close too retiring. Rebuilding takes years and by the time you've done so they have already retired.

Surely you do your best to fill the right places with proven players, not undrafted free agent rookies who shouldn't even be on a practise squad let alone starting, not overpaid players who are injured for 15 weeks out of a season, giving us the chance to go deep in the playoffs one last time before you start a rebuild.

I never thought about tanking to get QB...We could get a Desean Watson or the kid from Louisville sit him for a year to learn under Brees. Next season we hand them the keys and maybe restructure Drew to be a backup for a few seasons and mentor the new QB.

Why? Does this look like a team that can win? We are trying to win and still losing.
