This thread is dedicated to people you are surprised to find out are still alive.

Please go for only one person per post, and don't just list, but give an detailed explanation.

I'll start out this out:

Michael Gorbachev

I thought he was like 70 in the 90s when the fall of the Soviet Union happened. Which would have made him in his 90s now. I was fairly close, he was born in 1931 which made him 60 in 1991 and will be 90 next year. most of his contemporaries (Reagan, Bush, Yeltsin), have long since passed. Plus he's Russian and for some reason I have this perception that they don't live long.

On a serious note, getting your own elders off the road in away that is sensitive to their independence is one of the hardest things a person can have to do.
We lucked out in that my father-in-law admitted he was a danger to himself and others when he was told he couldn't drive anymore. It helped that a neurologist told him, but still.

I saw Fred Willard on Modern Family a couple of weeks ago, and I don't know if they made him up to look that awful (spoiler: he dies) but he does not look long for this world.

after 4 car wrecks (none my fault), my wife tries to keep me off the road and I am only 44 years old
after the third one, you didn’t at least suspect if you drove again it would happen again? It’s sort of your fault. Run into me thrice shame on you, wreck me a fourth shame on me.

just kidding Dago. I’m damn lucky to be here too. (Almost every time shame on me)

As I watch TV while listening to music on YouTube. I'm tired of Taylor Swift.
