two times in my life I have bought a water repellent windshield spray/wipe. The thought the first time maybe I let the bottle get overheated in the trunk or something so I tried again. Both times, it goes on fine and I think the product actually works but in the mornings that fog is prone to happen, it makes this thick white film that does not go away as easily as fog.

Anyone else have this problem? Is it maybe this type of product just isn't compatible with our humidity?

also what is your favorite alternative to the

I use the Rain-x washer fluid. In the morning I get the film you speak of on my windshield. I just blast the defrost until I get up to the highway (about a minute maybe two) and it's gone. Worth it if you ask me. I like not having to turn on my wipers unless it's a downpour.
