Carr has to feel rug pulled. [merged} (1 Viewer)

This wasn't a fire sale. Guys are leaving for bigger paychecks and that's cool. Davenport wasn't good last year. Onyemata, while he was once one of the most important players on our defense, was not good last year. Tuttle was a situational player.

The one that hurts is Elliss, and if he was a starter here we would have paid him that exact contract. He left for a starting job.

I'm sorry did we lose Lattimore or DD?
We have had to make tough decisions based on our cap. It is crumby that it happened within our division for some of these guys, and it will certainly change our draft strategy but hey, we signed Carr and that was going to cost us some things. Our core is there if we retain Ellis and draft well we will be A-OK

Come on now. Out everyone they lost only Ellis stings and he was playing behind DD and PW. Davenport had his moments but he never put it all together and last year was abysmal. Oneyemata has been meh the last two years and Tuttle was a fine role player. The team needed to inject new blood on the d line anyway.

Not sure we really lost any of these guys to the cap, aside from maybe Elliss. Davenport...he was only able to get a 1-year deal because no team knows what he is. Is he the oft-injured but ungodly dominant player he was before last season? Or was he the plodding ox who couldn't catch a QB who runs a 5.1 40? Onyemata wasn't the same since he got busted for juicing. Tuttle was a role player that is more remembered for banishing Matty to the Shadow Realm than he is for his play otherwise.

Onyemata and Elliss were 4th and 7th round picks, Tuttle was a UDFA, so part of this is hoping the team can continue identifying and developing up and coming talent. IIRC, there was some buzz around Sewell and Jackson at LB last camp and while he’s been a major disappointment so far, Turner factors into DE along with Granderson and Kpassagnon, and any players they bring in. I actually feel pretty good about Granderson taking the next step because it was understood he was a raw smaller school prospect who needed to develop, and he continues showing progress.

We landed a significant upgrade at QB and I think it should have been expected there was going to be defensive turnover with the number of free agents we had. The core is very much in tact, however.
