I think he’s basically right but I don’t think it sucks enough to offset how dramatic the CFP is - and the fact that it requires the NC winner to beat the best.

Burrow ran away with the Heisman after the Bama game. In year's past it wasn't a big deal either when the winner left the pack. As for non Big 6 bowls, the only people that cared about them before the playoffs were gamblers, people that just love football and coaches on the hot seat.

Flat screen TV's with broadcasts in HD and making bowl games into participation trophies did more to hurt the non big 6 bowls than the playoffs.
