Check out oemfileassociations.xml change all edge associations to ie

Also there is a good you can set with an xml file that includes associations you want to make.

We had the aggravating issue of edge taking over pdf extension everytime there was an issue with explorer crashing. It would revert to the file associations in that xml file above.

Compatibility there bud. And edge is awful
