Chargers had a 13 point lead and possession with 6:50 left (1 Viewer)

I noticed on forum the Patriots fumbled 5 times. Did anyone see the fumble statistics from the Patriots last 10 years. It's was off he chart how little they fumbled. Now with proper air pressure in ball makes it tougher to hold onto.

I was one of the people that thought the two correlated, but it looks like this article debunked the theory. The Patriots are just darn good at holding onto the football.....

So what happened in 2015?

• The Patriots had the fewest fumbles of any NFL offense.
• The Patriots had the best fumble rate of any NFL offense.
• The Patriots had one of their best fumble rates of the past decade

We were very lucky. We won despite some boneheaded decisions from Payton. Sure Bell and Vacarro forced one fumble, but the other two fumbles were flukes (the wr and Rivers). Taking timeouts at the end of the first half helped San Diego score a TD, whereas they may have been forced to kick a field goal. Running 3 straight times after the first fumble wasted a lot time that we didn't know we wouldn't need. Scoring immediately after getting a first down at the 1 yard line with 2 minutes left and knowing a TD and extra point would only put us up 1 point was a bad play. We should've moved the ball to the 1 foot line on 1st down to force San Diego to at least take their final timeout. We're very lucky they didn't get into field goal range because we know they would go for 4th downs. Had San Diego not committed that false hike to Rivers, they probably would've beaten us. We got very lucky that those bad decisions didn't cause us to lose.

It was the power of The Who Dats....I saw it in person. We willed the team to victory!

This is amazing.

Is there any way to cross reference this with other games and see if there has ever been a game with a higher win % that late in the game, only to go so awfully wrong?

AND, to top it off, even after two quick turnovers, and two touchdowns, you still have the ball with tons of time left against the worst defense in the history of the NFL (sort of)!

It really is still unbelievable.

Unless you factor in the betting line, Brees back in San Diego, and the fact that the NFL needs the Saints to at least appear decent, so they can get them to the Super Bowl next year.
