His cap hit is $10.4M for Seattle. If they’d trade him, they’d eat the remaining $1.9M of his signing bonus and his first 3 game checks are already paid out. His remaining $8.5M cap hit includes those 3 game checks so we'd be on the hook for right at $6.906M for his salary. He makes 30 next May and has already held out for an extension wanting to be paid upwards of $16M/year. We're not going to pay him that or anything close to it with Michael Thomas coming up for a deal. So since he's in the final year of his deal, we'd be giving up pick(s) to trade for a 13 game rental.

Scratch that, it is $13M. I don’t know why I was thinking $16M for. Probably because I remember looking at the number then seeing Thomas is currently the 3rd highest paid safety on Spotrac and when I was typing the contract number he was seeking, I remembered the “3” and just thought it was the 3rd highest safety contract so it had to be 16.
