ESPN just announced Chris Carter former WR from Sota' will be takin his place...... Can't say i'm dissappointed....i "kinda" agree with the article..

below from PFT
ESPN PUTS THE STAKE IN SALISBURY

As you likely already know, Sean Salisbury is out at ESPN. (I was out of pocket when the e-mail from ESPN announcing the departure came through the line.)

The move was, in our view, long overdue. Per USA Today, Salisbury's contract had expired. He likely sealed his fate with that disgraceful on-air dissing of John Clayton last month, during which Salisbury called Clayton the "Cryptkeeper."

As regular visitors to this site know, we don't care much for Salisbury. He's loud, he's a jerk, and far too often he speaks in sweeping absolutes. Also, he reportedly was suspended for showing cell-phone photos of his penis to colleagues at the network. Frankly, we're surprised he lasted there as long as he did.

True to form, Salisbury is crowing about his departure.

"I have grown as much as I can at ESPN and decided to expand my horizons," Salisbury said in a statement. "I have created a brand and it's time to expand into other opportunities in TV, radio, Internet, publishing, movies and public speaking, among others. My resume speaks for itself as a football analyst, and I believe I can talk all sports with the best of them."

Hey, Sean -- a periodic cameo in an Adam Sandler flick doesn't make you an actor. A web site that looks like crap and that rarely was updated before it went off line won't turn you into an Internet mogul.

Publishing? Please. (Unless, of course, you've got a proposal for "Cell Phone Porn for Dummies.")

Sean Salisbury needed ESPN far more than ESPN needed him, and unless he plan to handle weekend sports at the UPN affiliate in Tallahassee, his broadcasting career is officially over.

It's like substituting a Van Arsdale in the early 70s.

I'm glad he's gone! As for that Crypt Keeper line it was pretty funny and accurate.

You get extra points, SaintJ for referrencing the twin Phoenix Suns greats from back in the day! Very nice.

But Salisbury was a jerk. Glad to see him out of a job.

his verbal tirades against Wally Cox aka John Clayton we're difficult to watch...i kept expecting WonderDog to fly in and kick his butt during one of the shows......

Great move by ESPN. Salisbury was just a loud-mouth buffoon who really loved to just hear him himself opine, even when he obviously didn't think long and hard about the opinion. I wonder if this had something to do with the Cryptkeeper comment he made to Clayton. Either way, I'll enjoy their coverage lots more next season without this motormouth hogging up air time.

Sean Salisbury talked in absolutes too often and also contradicted himself on different shows (ie NFL Live vs Football Friday) pretty often. The thing that capped it for me was when he made apologies for the Patriots all year ("Why is this such a a big deal, everybody does it" "The Patriots didn't do anything different than any other team").

Every time he spoke about it, he was a parrot for the "poor Pats" throng. It was to the point that I hated when the topic came up and he was on the TV.

Further proof there is a God! I'm so glad that Salisbury is out. And if he shows up in Tallahassee, as the article suggests, I will starts a local boycott of the UPN station. He doesn't meet our "community standards."

I disagree with the John Clayton comments. It was like sean was back in high school as the dumb jock qb making fun of the nerd. Now add 25 years of age and that what u have in sean. A DUMB jock qb who was NEVER any good in the NFL

I liked him. He knows football. They're others on the network who know less and get on my nerves more. I thought his arguments with Clayton were staged for "entertainment" purposes. I can't fault a man for being proud of his cell phone.

Great, now we get to here Carter bash the Saints every chance he gets. Be careful what you wish for. ESPN is now even more unwatchable during football season.
