The famed science fiction writer, who once denigrated religion as "a necessary evil in the childhood of our particular species," left written instructions that his funeral be completely secular, according to his aides.
"Absolutely no religious rites of any kind, relating to any religious faith, should be associated with my funeral," he wrote.

A true luminary of the 20th century. Ahead of his time. RIP Arthur. My funeral will have similar instructions.

However, the mormons will surely baptise him in death, like they do with the holocaust victims. So no worries he's saved :9:
 
Why do you care? Its his funeral, not yours.
 
As long as his remains get sent into space, that's all that really counts. Anything less would not be fitting...
 
Maybe he just wanted the irony of being the piano player in the world, but couldn't, so he became the best secularly buried science fiction writer in the world.

It should be to no person's surprise that Clarke wanted this type of funeral. Besides, the monolith is going to do what it wants to anyway.
