NEW ORLEANS -- It is clear from the way Marques Colston walks to his locker that he is still in some pain. Colston, however, says his left ankle is feeling better every day. Although the injury has slowed his remarkable rookie season, the 6-4, 230-pound receiver tries not to dwell on what might have been.
"I think about it sometime, but I just try to deal with it as best as possible," said Colston, a seventh-round pick out of Hofstra who has 66 catches for 1,001 yards and seven TDs.
Until rolling the ankle in the first quarter against the Bengals Nov. 19, Colston had a lock on rookie of the year. His 869 receiving yards in his first nine games set a record. In the three games before the sprain, he was on an incredible tear, having caught 27 passes for 455 yards.
"I came to a point where I was feeling so comfortable out there, it was kind of scaring myself," Colston said. "I don't want to say it was easy, but it was coming natural to me."
