Report: Steelers concerned about Keenan Lewis’ hip injury

On the surface, a Keenan Lewis reunion in Pittsburgh makes sense.

The former Steelers cornerback visited with the team this week after being cut by the Saints, but a deal doesn’t seem imminent.

According to Gery Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers “did not like what they saw” in regards to Lewis’ hip injury, which could delay or derail his signing.

I dont believe the Saints would have cut him if they felt good about his health and recovery timelines.

Makes sense that others dont feel so good about it either.

Poor guy. Great news, only to get shot down.
He should probably take the year off, get a tv gig for this year, let his body healthy enough to return next year if possible.

It's not worth crippling yourself.
It's also not worth the heartache you're putting yourself through. But hey, if you need to prove that you can play this year, who am I to judge. Go for it.

A most logical conclusion to that whole mini-story. Still interesting how certain posters took a visit and turned it into a signing

Best of luck to Lewis, though. The newer DBs would do well to copy his warrior mentality.

i see the comments section Steeler fans complaining about their CB issues... this could turn into a nice 'get into sync' game for Drew and the WR/TE's, especially Fleener.

I don't understand what Keenan is doing , i heard/read the Saints offered IR, says he wants to play and then gets turned down by his old team right out of the gate. I wish him well, he needs to be realistic about this injury though.

After seeing this, it confirms for me that Keenan had a problem with the Saints and not the other way around. They probably told him he's not going to be 100% available or push these younger corners for playing time. Which in turn, Keenan complained for either playing time or his release and the Saints granted him his wish.

WIth the tidal wave of constant info including Tweeters, bloggers, Instagrammers, and on and on, everyone has become an expert and simply Points of Views are now presented as fact and even fantasies become their shared reality.

Lewis is not well spoken, so I doubt he could get a TV gig. I suspect that he has enough money to take the year off, especially since the Saints are paying him anyway, but I still hope he can make a come back at some point this year to offset some of that guaranteed money. However, I agree that he should at least take enough time off to allow his hip to heal, so if that means taking the whole year, then I'm fine with that.

Not if they are concerned about longevity or the ability to walk without severe pain in the future.
Delvin Breaux has already been to hell and back in terms of life itself. It's a warrior mentality that has him back in the saddle and ready to go.

Rickey Jackson was quite the warrior on the field back in the day, too. Our edge rushers would do well to copy that as well.

And fans pay too much money to watch the pro game in person to NOT see 22 warriors out there. The sentiment endures despite the current commish's best efforts to soften the sport.

Saints front office not doing a very solid job on their due diligence. KL was out the entire last half of last season and had all these issues. The team needs to fire the people responsible for conducting the medical reviews on these players. I mean his hip or knee just didn't start to being an issue last month. Makes you wonder if KL was keeping true extent of these issues from the team and when the found out he wasn't being honest they cut him?
You just know that if he was close to being back to 100% like he said he is the Steelers would of signed him. I fear that his condition is bad like degenerative. No other reason to pass IMO.

If Ike Taylor can get a TV gig, ANYONE can.
