Entering Week 4 of the 2024 season Taysom Hill ranked 11th in Saints All-Time Franchise History in Total TDs Scored.

After his 2 Touchdowns against ATL, Hill moved past Lance Moore and is now in 10th Place.

Entering Week 4 of the 2024 season Taysom Hill was Tied with Tony Galbreath in 8th Place in Saints All-Time Franchise History in Rushing TDs with 27.

After scoring 2 TDs against ATL Hill not only broke the tie with Tony Galbreath but he leapfrogged both Chuck Muncie and Pierre Thomas to move into 5th place in All-Time Rushing Touchdowns in Saints Franchise History.

He now trails only Dalton Hilliard, Deuce McAllister, Mark Ingram II, and the All-Time Leader, Alvin Kamara.

Atta Boy TH7!
Congratulations To Taysom Hill!!! šŸ’:balloons:šŸŽ†

"He is the most important player on the team."

You can say that again.

And again.

And again.

And again.

(That's 11, if you're keeping count.)

I wouldn't go as far as saying Taysom is the most important player on the team (as Steve Renner said in the Tweet above).

As of now that moniker hangs around the neck of AK41, regardless of what those outlying statistics show.

However, I will say this:

P.T. Barnum may have been correct when he said "One monkey don't make a Circus".

What he failed to acknowledge is that when you lose your only šŸ… Tiger you no longer have the Greatest Show On Earth.

Lance only had 391 Touches in his career (last 2 seasons with other franchises) so he doesnt show up on many leader boards. (Lance 0.1151 TDs/Touch) - Taysom has 490 touches so TH7 didnt get there in less touches.

But still mighty impressive.

Right? lol
Wow! You can bet he got there in fewer touches than anybody on the list!
I wonder where all the SR members who have been crying for years that Taysom is:
overrated, overpaid, can't pass & rarely contributes?
šŸ’Æ. Itā€™s odd seeing some posters here minimize him and his myriad contributions to the team.

Lance Moore played 101 games as a Saint. Taysom passed him up while playing in his 100th game.

Not to take anything away from Lance Moore. He was a 1st down machine with 66% of his receptions going for 1st downs.

However, he wasn't as clutch as a Saints player as most fondly remember. He caught 346 out of 518 targets, a mere 67% catch rate.

That number doesn't compare to the NFL Top 25 All Time, much less MT13, #1 in NFL History @ 76%.

And while you used number of touches to make a case, LMoe had 587 Receiving Targets and 2 Rushing Attempts while in NOLA, a Total of 589 opportunities.

TH7 has 412 Rushing Attempts and 103 Receiving Targets, a Total of 515 opportunities, 74 less than Moore.

Also, Hill has a Career Catch Rate of 75.7%, just a fraction lower than the All-Time NFL Best.

Lance scored 38 of his 39 TDs Receiving. It's much easier to score TDs receiving than it is rushing.

There's certainly less traffic and contact in the receiving game than in the running game.

A better comparison would be looking at the career of Taysom Hill, Pierre Thomas, and Dalton Hilliard as Saints players, all of them making their mark as runners.

Pierre Thomas - 105 games as a Saint. 818 Rushing Attempts. Twice as many as Hill. 389 Receiving Targets. Almost 4 times as many as Hill. Hill just passed PT up.

Dalton Hilliard - 108 games as a Saint. 1126 Rushing Attempts. Almost 3 times as many as Hill. Receiving Targets Unknown. 249 Receptions. 2.5 more than Hill.

For a Part-Time "Gadget" Player, a solid argument can be made that Taysom Hill has made the most out of his opportunities than any Saints player in franchise history.

Case Closed.

Definitely agreed.

I wanst trying to say Lance was better, I was just interested in the concept of touches to TDs as suggested by tinman.
I almost switched to targets myself but then found it wasnt a helpful comparison to pre 90s players that dont have a metric for targets.

Touche/TDs is sort of a Lynn Swann, Cliff Branch, Charlie Joiner, Cris Carter metric.

In running through the TDs/touches numbers it came pretty clear why Paul Warfield often finds his way unto the greatest receiver lists.

Out of curiosity do you have a reference for Receptions/Target leaderboard? (Too much math/data gathering for me to do on my own)

Still 66.3% cant be bad considering Drew had a completion % of 67.7 ( a near all-time career high)

Sproles only had a short stint with us but seems like he was fairly effective in the time period as well.
