What if defensive positions we are eyeing are gone at #10, and Jackson is the BPA?? Scouts Inc and Kiper both have him slotted at our spot.

Devery will be gone, I feel. I've been a supporter, but his inconsistency kills us. Patton is a go-to guy, but not a game breaker. Meachem?? Who knows....

Say we land a couple of defensive FAs, would Payton look at a young guy who could stretch the field deep?? That would give us Colston, Meachem and Jackson for the next 5-6 years.

[I personally want to see us go D, but Payton's an offensive mind....]

Im with Biggest Impact!!!! If Jackson can bring it. Im all for it. We don't know what this team will look like after we add free agents so in my opinion outside QB every position can be drafted in round 1 for this team.

I honestly dont think Devery is gone, he aint good enough to start, but he brings an element to this offense that is to valuable to let go and thats being a deep threat, his poor performance doesnt mean he shouldnt be resigned, it just means he lost out on big money with this being his contract year, I mean in Payton's first year, devery had some 120-150-170yrd games pulling anywhere from 3-9 receptions in those contest (yeah i know it was 2 yrs ago) and I dont think we draft any offensive player in the first round, we would either trade back or out of the 1st round to get a defensive player....offense is not a problem, defense is.

I don't want anyone under 180 pounds. For the Saints that is.

I am all for BPA but in the case of this draft I think there is enough defense available that it would be difficult to justify picking offense at 10 except for maybe McFadden or if the top Olineman fell to us

I look at it differently it's not about the offense being the problem, I think it's more about making it a Machine.

Wes Walker Donte Stallworth and Randy Moss all picked up in the same offseason and Brady shatters records. The team is Undefeated.

Just my humble thoughts but Imagine a serious traditional back in the game with Bush.
I love 26 but I think he is done, can't rule out PT but just for convo imagine a big time back that if the linebackers did'nt stay honest he could rip a 60 -70 yard td on any play. Safties would cheat and Payton would look like a Offensive Guru.

Do you know what Reggie Bush, Colston, Brees could do in that situation. It would be crazy.

No one knows there plan, Im not going to go crazy if they pick an offensive player in round one.

It would validate that Meachem was a wasted pick last yr AND it better mean we signed Haynesworth and Briggs or Asante Samuels (or someone VERY comparable) via FA. We have to go DEF with our #1 pick even if it means trading up or down to get the guy we need.

It wouldn't necessarily validate that Meachem was a wasted pick. Isn't Meachem still a part of our team? I don't think anyone can be considered a wasted pick after one freakin season unless they are no longer on this team. While I don't believe we will select a WR in the first, if we did I would understand. We currently have 3 WRs signed. Last I checked we need at least 5. Besides the WRs we did have had the second most drops in the NFL. We do need to upgrade that position too, as hard as it is for fans to believe.

I do agree that we should trade up or trade down to get a defensive player if we definitely want one in the first round. However I don't think that we should handcuff ourselves to picking a defensive player at 10, if he doesn't rate as the 10th best player in the draft.

i seriously might cry or more likely punch a hole in my plasma tv

words cannot express how entirely awful that pick would be. we dont need a 5'9 165 lb return specialist

there will be options defensively at #10. i would rather curtis lofton at 10 or talib or even rodgers-cromartie than desean jackson.

thinking about it grinds my gears

Yikes! Could you imagine McFadden as a Saint? We could run the WILDCAT formation!

Every time I think we will definitley pick D we go O. I woul'nt be suprised about anything
