COUNTDOWN 2020 (2 Viewers)

Well it looks like we may be able to see what all these guys can do when training camp opens July 28. I'm really excited now. I believe this is the deepest team we've had in quite some time and it looks like we have some high quality URFA's that could make the team and surely some will definitely make the PS.

He also led his team in receiving with (35) catches for 559 yards. He was selected to the Defensive first-team All-Northern California. He was rated as a 3-star recruit coming out of high school. He was named a starter for the season opener against the Patriots, and he had a very good rookie year. He had to sit out the 2014 season due to a torn ACL. During his NFL career he has been involved in several trade deals. He went from Buffalo to the Eagles as part of the LeSean McCoy trade, and he went from the Eagles to the Dolphins when the two teams swapped draft picks in the first round of the 2016 draft. The SAINTS acquired him from the Dolphins in exchange for LB Vince Biegel at the end of preseason last year. Last year he played in 13 games with four starts posting 31 tackles, (25) solo. Alonso will have to try to make the SAINTS roster by coming back from a serious injury as he unfortunately suffered another ACL injury during last years playoff game against the Vikings.

Baun grew up in Wisconsin and played at two different high schools. At West Bend East high school, he played wide receiver. After his sophomore year his family moved, and he played at Brown Deer High school at both quarterback and linebacker. As a senior, Baun was named the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association State Offensive Player of the Year, and he was named the Dave Krieg State Quarterback of the Year. Baun also played basketball and ran track in high school. In basketball, Baun was a starter for Brown Deer's 2013 Division II State Championship team and he placed in the Division II state track championship in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. Baun played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers. He was a three-year contributor on Wisconsin's defense. After being redshirted his freshman year, he played in (12) games in 2016. He had to sit out of the 2017 campaign due to an injury. The next year he started all 13 games at Outside linebacker. WILLIAM CRAIG ROBERTSON

Craig Robertson played football at Stafford High School in Stafford, Texas. He played running back, option quarterback, kicker, punter, and wide receiver. He was also a star on the basketball and baseball team. He earned 11 letters in four sports. He was an honor roll student as well. Robertson chose to play football at the University of North Texas where he was recruited to play safety. Once he got there Robertson showed how physical he was and the coaches felt he would be better served at linebacker. Robertson became the starter at linebacker midway through his redshirt freshman season, a position he held the remainder of his collegiate career. During his tenure at North Texas, Robertson earned All-America honors as a freshman, and Sun Belt All-Conference honors as a sophomore and senior. As a senior, Robertson led the conference in solo tackles and total tackles. Robertson went undrafted in the 2011and did not receive any offers to sign as an undrafted free. He did not receive any invitations to preseason rookie mini camps. He found himself out of football for almost all of 2011. He was finally signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad for the last two weeks of that season. In the 2012 preseason he competed for a backup spot to starting LB Scott Fujita in camp. Due to some injuries and suspensions by others,(one due to Bountygate) he got a chance to play. He started in the season opener in 2012 for the Browns. He played four seasons there before coming to New Orleans in 2016 to play the next four seasons for the SAINTS. Last year he played in 15 regular season games with one start and finished with 22 tackles (15 solo), one sack, one interception, and five special teams stops. During his 8 year NFL career he has 549 total tackles, and 9 sacks, not bad for a guy who couldn’t get into a preseason camp coming out of college.

CESAR RUIZ

Ruiz first played high school ball in Camden, NJ. After two years he transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, where he helped lead his team to undefeated seasons in both 2015 and 2016. As a senior in 2016, he anchored an offensive line that enabled his team’s offense to produce 2,000 yards through the air and 1,879 yards on the ground. He was invited to play in the 2017 Under Armour All-American Game. He was an ESPN four-star recruit, and ranked as the No. 1 center nationally. Ruiz committed to play college football for the Michigan Wolverines over offers from Florida, Auburn, LSU and several other top-level programs. Ruiz played in ten games as a freshman, starting five games at right guard. Ruiz started all 13 of Michigan's games at center as a sophomore and was named third team All-Big Ten Conference. Ruiz was named to the Watchlist for the Rimington Trophy going into his junior season. He started all 13 of Michigan's games at center, allowing only eight total quarterback pressures in 447 snaps and was named the best pass blocking center in college football. Following the end of his junior year, Ruiz announced that he had decided to forgo his senior season in order to enter the NFL draft. Over three seasons at Michigan, he played in 36 games, 31 of them as a starter. In this year’s recent draft, Ruiz was selected by the SAINTS in the first round with the 24th overall pick. He is expected to compete to play at both center and right guard. The New Orleans front office has really invested highly in the offensive line with their draft picks in the last few years. It started in 2015 when they selected Andrus Peat in the first round. They spent a first round pick in 2017 with Ryan Ramczyk, they used their first available pick in the 2019 draft to select Erik McCoy, and they continued by taking Ruiz in the 2020 draft with a first round pick. Considering what you have in your left tackle position with Terron Armstead, I am really anxious to see them perform together. Perhaps they are just trying to make it very hard for Brees to walk away from the game.

My goodness, he is completely unknown to me.
I was late getting his history posted today, but he had a lot of playing time at linebacker for 3 years at Michigan State.

ZACH WOOD

Wood went to Rowlett High School in Texas. He played defensive tackle and in his last two seasons there he totaled 214 tackles, and 18 sacks. He was an honorable-mention selection in Class 4A All-State as a defensive lineman. Wood accepted a football scholarship from Southern Methodist University. He was red-shirted his first year there and began to see the field the following year. As a red-shirt sophomore he started all 12 games as a defensive end in a 3-4 defense and he spent time as the long snapper. He eventually became a team captain. He finished his college career with 33-of-43 starts, 137 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 3 blocked kicks. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in applied physiology. Wood was signed as a free agent by the Saints prior to the 2017 season opener after spending parts of 2016 and 2017 competing for snapping duties with the Dallas Cowboys. Wood snapped for all punts and placekicks in all 16 regular season games and both postseason contests in 2019 and has provided consistency since his arrival. He recently signed with the SAINTS on a new four-year contract. He received the lowest rating of any NFL player in the video game MADDEN. Watch the short clip at the end of the pictures as he shows his accuracy and proper response to that rating as hit knocks the game out of a teammates hand.
