This flies in the face of recent reporting.

Dr. Benjamin Chapman, a food safety specialist at North Carolina State University, says there’s no evidence that coronavirus is transmitted by food or food packaging even if coronavirus somehow makes its way into your meal.

And although the heat from cooking is more likely to kill off the coronavirus, Dr. Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia University, says the risk of contracting COVID-19 through a hot or a even cold meal is extremely low.

“in general, eating food is low risk and there has not been any evidence to show that coronavirus is transmitted by eating food,” said Dr. Rasmussen. “Coronaviruses in general are not stable at high temperatures, so it is highly likely that cooking food will inactivate the virus. cold foods we don’t know how long the virus remains infectious on cold foods, however for things like produce that you would presumably wash prior to eating that should rinse off any virus.”

She adds if the virus is ingested, our stomach would actually get rid of the virus

“When you eat any kind of food whether it be hot or cold that food is going to go straight down into your stomach where there is a high acidity, low PH environment that also will inactivate the virus,” she said.

I get that this is the official line but it still makes no sense to me. If we're talking about the virus lingering on cardboard and plastic longer than other surfaces and you still being able to pick it up through surface contact, I just dont get how this can be a non issue like they're claiming.

So...they thought it was worth risking lives eh?
They still do. Our local union board (President, Business Agent and me) had the company on a conference call this morning to get them to cancel their planned safety meetings because they're unnecessary gatherings.

The company did a meeting anyway and the subject was the changes that are being made to deal with COVID-19. One of the changes is to eliminate unnecessary gatherings.

I am scheduled to attend Thursday morning. ?

A lot of the "lingers on surfaces!" stuff is based on studies that in no way mimic real life. Sure, if you have a pure and heavy viral load in a syringe and just squirt it all over a piece of steel, as if 100 sick people just came and hocked a COVID loogie all on the same square inch ... I guess you can detect some live viruses several days later.

Just so temperatures, just so conditions ... life ain't a laboratory.

Just dont touch your face after eating your fast food.

There is no evidence showing that it can not spread.

in Wuhan a pot luck dinner was basically their Mardi Gras. Thousands of families came together and it became a massive outbreak. Same with the family in Korea, Same with the family in Jersey. The cruise ships were linked to sick crew brining food to the people in rooms. The nursing homes and psyche ward in South Korea were linked to staff who also bring them food.

There's no evidence but smoke is billowing everywhere.

We see huge amount of food illness every year due to improper cooking or handling of food. Yet somehow we think because we go through a drive up window this changes all that?

The real reason is the threat is low is because the food chain isn't strong enough to keep everyone fed if we close all restaurants and schools. I don't have a solution other than just put some guidelines in place. Then again, our doctors don't have PPE so not sure how we expect the guy at Wendy's to get one.

We talk about cleaning gas pumps because we don't want the virus to get on our hands, touch our face then somehow get in our nose or mouth. That Big Mac though, it's all good. Just get some random person to stick it in a wrapper so another random person can stick it in a bag so another random person can hand you the bag after handling cash. Then we toach the credit card/cash, the bag, the wrapper and then pick that burger up and slam it down and it's all good.

A lot of reporting today on private equity firms looking to exploit loopholes in the stimulus package.

I’m really really concerned (but not surprised) that despite the price tag on this package, ‘everyday’ Americans’ lives aren’t going to be impacted nearly enough.

The absolute disregard for lower- and middle- and working-class Americans.

our consumerism has been the one thing that has kept this economy (in its 11-year expansion mind you) going. The point of pride of the WH. And yet when push comes to shove, there’s neither acknowledgment nor gratitude.

It’s hurtful and disheartening to watch. I’m really losing hope for those classes in the post-COVID world. A *lot* of people are hurting financially and nobody with power seems to care.

In fact, one group of politicians said there would be no more welfare or medical help or aid because we’ve spent enough.

you could spend 6 trillion Dollars, but if it doesn’t help people that actually needed it, it could have been 10 trillion or none at all. It doesn’t matter at that point.

I'm seeing a huge amount of Twitter profiles that were starting in February and March posting on anything covid related with "China Lied" "China lied, people died", "blame China", "Chinese virus" and stuff similar. Isn't there a website that tracks bots?

Not sure about bots, but propaganda, for sure.
