Can any of you knowledgeable medical people out there tell me if this doctor is accurate in his assessment of the Covid-19 virus?
He isn't painting a very cheery picture about the future in regard to this virus... especially as it pertains to reinfecting the population in the seasons to come. :covri:

The doctor in the video:

He is best known for his disputed claims that lectins, a type of plant protein found in numerous foods, cause inflammation resulting in many modern diseases.[4] The Plant Paradox diet suggests avoiding all foods containing lectins.[5] Scientists and dieticians have classified Gundry's claims about lectins as pseudoscience.[6][5] He sells supplements that he claims protect against or reverse the supposedly damaging effects of lectins.[7]

So... just another dude trying to make a buck.

Whew! Thanks for the info.

Well, he does draw some points, however he’s like anyone now using it to give his own spin. So, here we go. I think everyone realizes that there will be waves of this. We will get a new one coming here soon as governors are opening the states up too early. There a big argument why, not going to go there. But it is happening. On that point he’s not wrong. Now this virus is slightly changing, as every virus does, it’s the nature of the beast. However, the mutations that it’s making are to be expected and nothing major. There is talk of different lineages of this virus, east coast west coast whatever, but they are all essentially the same virus. The protein point that counts has remained stable.

Vaccines in research are targeting those points that are more stable. In the flu, yes it mutates significantly, and the immunizations we have are easy and quick to make and built off sound technology. But they are targeting the mutating points. The newer vaccines in trials and research is targeting the stable parts when that comes through, then we will have a long term vaccine that will work very well.

This virus, same thing. Coronavirus have stable and unstable parts. I’m sure people a lot smarter than I am have chosen where to concentrate their efforts. Even if the vaccine is only good for 5 years and you need a booster, ok that works for me.

Now as to why there is no vaccine for the common cold is two fold. First there are many variations of virus responsible, the number of over 200 is in my head, but it’s been 25 years since that class. Also, the common cold for the most part is a nuisance, not anything major. Who will develop a vaccine for so many different virus, and who is going to get it for something which is simply a nuisance? Exactly, that’s why one doesn’t exist.

This thing, with the laser focus every lab in the world is giving it will get a vaccine, and it will work here shortly. There is a reason, massive research money and a huge market. All things needed.

And also, like I keep saying in the end it’s a virus. It can only get into you 3 ways. Nose eyes mouth. Wear a mask, keep your personal space, stay home if you are sick, and don’t touch your face without washing your hands. It’s simple and really effective.

This. But I'm wondering how many waves we'll have to go through before everyone figures out that wearing a mask is necessary? In some areas, there seems to be more compliance than others. I know around central Louisiana (more rural areas around me), compliance is 50% at best (and probably closer to 33%). It's just frustrating because if everyone wore a mask, it would contain droplets and we wouldn't have near as much to worry about.

Well, I haven't ventured out much lately, but when I have there has be about a third of the people I've seen with masks on. So if the virus is in a high percentage of the population right now, there's a good chance it is still spreading.

Nothing that he said in the video is wrong. Clever editing and background music to make you more sympathetic to the message, but the message itself is the same as any number of people saying that a second wave is coming.

So i’m standing in a disorganized line in the gas station ready to check out with my mask on. Lady comes in with two kids who are all on near my legs watching videos on her phone. She said i’m sorry i didn’t mean to get so close to you. Meanwhile the kids are all up on me.

People just don’t get it. I’m ok with you being somewhat close but the kids are the most likely carriers out of any of us. Do they think the schools are closed because of the parents?

So then... Jerry Clower is right. :covri:

Expect the Ouachita parish numbers to continue to increase significantly over4 the next few weeks. From what I saw today in just W. Monroe no one is staying at home and distancing. Every parking lot was packed with cars around lunch time. Drive through restaurants had lines extending out onto Thomas road blocking traffic flow, It literally took me 15 minutes to get through a mile stretch looking for a place to get lunch., I finally got through there and went to my apartment nearby to make a quick Bologna sandwich to eat while I drove to my next job site. Traffic was worse than I have seen in a couple of years.

I’m seriously thinking of driving down there to get my Mom and bring her to Colorado. She’s being a good girl and staying home but if she gets COVID, her risk of dying is really high. She’s got a triple whammy of high risk factors.

The "I'm American and nobody is gonna tell me what to do" attitude is the dumbest way to act during this pandemic. So many think that way, its unfortunate.

That seems to be the motto of the city and county we live in. It's a very heavy R voting area. There's a very cavalier attitude towards the restrictions, tinged with believing civil liberties are being violated. We'll just stay home like we have been. Let the guinea pigs go out to eat, not wear facial coverings in public and continue to watch the number of new cases increase.

Last night 1 friend who has this cavalier attitude was saying how out of 329 mill people in this country, only 0.003% have tested positive so what's the big deal. I told him the problem with his math is the sample size is puny and no conclusions should be drawn until testing ramps up significantly to give a clearer picture.

Does anyone know if people testing positive in prisons are supposed to be included in the state numbers?

Everyone in PA is wearing masks. They are readily available. Every store has signs..no mask, no enter, and some provide masks. We have tons of stylish homemade masks for sale for $4-$5 apiece.
Same here in Chester County, which is now being grouped with Lancaster County instead of the Philadelphia area. I regard that as a hopeful sign. Basically, it's "No Mask, No Service." That's the way it should be, at least for now. I am still trying to figure out how wearing a mask impedes your freedom. Also, the whole northern part of the state (minus Erie and the northeast part, I think) goes to yellow status on 8 May.

Here in MD (specifically the DC metro area) folks are all wearing masks/gloves in the grocery stores and other open places.

A lot of folks are wearing masks outdoors just walking, exercising as well...I can't really complain about this area, it seems the vast majority of folks are taking this seriously....

This virus has brought out a lot of the stupid and ignorance in this country for sure...

Wow..........thanks for the clarification 👍🙏🏻

I can’t believe it only took me 19,789 posts, to focus on how simple the solution to protection & staying safe is.......”nose eyes mouth”

I had to drop something off at the post office the other day. The post office was jumping through hoops to keep staff & customers safe. They limit how many customers can be inside at one time, have the 6 ft markers on the ground, we had to wait outside in a line, one of the staff was wiping down the doors & counters etc etc etc........but, I still had to touch that pen & pad thing, to answer all of the questions about my package. Ugh 😩

But now I feel better. 😊. All I have to focus on, is keep my mask on, wash my hands, & be mindful of my nose eyes mouth.

I was out walking my friend’s pup the other day & we saw this homeless lady, who is very sweet, sleeping on the concrete, trying to stay warm, with a skimpy little blanket. So we walked back home & got a blanket we did not need, and went back & covered the lady up. She probably has every germ known to mankind, on her & all of her earthly belongings in her grocery cart. I thought, wouldn’t that be the shirts to get CV19, from helping out a homeless lady???!!! Such is life......
