I was on a town hall with my state senator yesterday, and he was very complimentary of what neighboring Maryland is doing. The most impressive governors IMHO have been Cuomo, Hogan. DeWine, and the guy in California whose name escapes me. If we're going to open things up, let's do it intelligently and with ample scientific input.

California Governor is Gavin Newsom. Guy has his stuff together no matter what a handful of idiots protests.

Weekly Wednesday Walmart report:

I went into two local Walmarts today. The first one was a regular Walmart and the second was a neighborhood market. I usually hit the neighborhood one after because they have some better variety on certain products and I use them as a backup in case the main store doesn't have what I was looking for.

Main store - still about 1/3 of the people had masks. Neighborhood store - at least half had masks. This is not the first time that I've observed this large difference between these two stores. I find it interesting that noticeably more people wear them at one store.

Here's where I'm getting on my soapbox. In the both stores, the arrows are CLEARLY marked on the floor for one way traffic down the aisles. I'll be damned if multiple people weren't just going about their business like no arrows were there. At least twice, I said (probably loud enough to be heard, although I had my mask on), "There are forking arrows. Use them." I know I was give stink-eye to those people, as well. It just pisses me off that you're going to have so little regard for others that you (1) don't bother wearing a mask and (2) don't bother following simple directions.
Your in Walmart and you are surprised at what you see? Walmart. Find another store and stress a little less maybe.

Covid not the only disease you could catch there.

Oh, I wasn't stressed. I was pissed. There's a difference. And yes, I know it's Walmart, but that shouldn't excuse people from being forking morons. They're just as bad elsewhere.

I was in Walmart today and was quickly reminded why I only go there when absolutely there are no other options. It is literally at the end of the world.

My rant for today is about the USPS. They are really dropping the ball. Over a month ago our request to forward our business mail to our home supposedly started. This was due to not being able to time the postal carrier at the office because they're never the same person and the delivery times could be anytime during the day. Or early evening. We have not been getting mail we know was sent because of contact with the other parties. Today we received mail that was postmarked April 3rd. A client we contacted today said the check they mailed us was returned due to "insufficient address." Checks or invoices having been arriving erratically. We called several times to see if there is a box of our mail sitting at the post office. Yesterday our security camera picked up the mail carrier trying to deliver to our office. Huh?! We need our payments and invoices to come in a timely fashion - need the cash flow and a lot of the payments are pass through to our vendors.

At a time when they should be stepping up their game to survive, they're becoming a Charlie Foxtrot, instead.

A llama to the (potential) rescue...

So what is it about tiny llama antibodies that make them a coronavirus killer? The coronavirus gets its name for having a corona, or crown shape, which is formed by protein spikes that let the virus break into healthy host cells. But the preliminary research finds that the petite antibodies from Winter’s blood (which were used to engineer a new antibody) can bind onto the coronavirus spikes, and block the virus from infecting cells.

“This is one of the first antibodies known to neutralize SARS-CoV-2,” said Jason McLellan, associate professor of molecular biosciences at UT Austin and co-senior author, in a statement.

Oh, don't even get me started about USPS. I had a package sent to me from Lake Charles. I'm in central Louisiana, about 20 miles ESE of Alexandria, so you'd be perfectly right in thinking, "Oh, well that's like a couple hour drive, should be there the next day." It left Lake Charles on Monday. It then went to Baton Rouge, then to Shreveport (had to cross my location), then to Alexandria (not too far from me again), and it arrived in Oakdale this morning. Somebody explain to me what kind of sense that makes.

She deserves her punishment. She was on the local news basically daring the city to do something about her opening. She was warned and then when she continued to openly violate the order, she was fined and then held in contempt. Now she's got a week in jail and $7k fine. I wouldn't care if they threw out the fine and just made her serve the time. I think everyone gets her point about needing to make money, but rules are rules and other businesses complied. Maybe she was hoping other businesses would follow her but none did.

Come on, gentleman. We should all know the playbook by now. Defy orders, protest against the higher powers, and then start a GoFundMe because of the unfair persecution. Playbook of the "oppressed victim" for years now. Over $400k raised already and more fundraisers out there.

I believe Pastor Tony Spell in Central did the same, though I'm not sure how much he made from it.

Oh, it's definitely a fundraising strategy. It's really tough telling apart legitimately needy people, and those just trying to hustle a buck.
