So 3 doctors in Russia that have complained about work conditions have "fallen" from high up windows

We've already discussed this. Its been scientifically proven to be a new strain of covid that causes Russian doctors to jump from progressively higher windows as they complain more about work conditions and the lack of ppe.

Scientifically proven facts.

I'm at the point of just saying screw it an let people do what they do. But then, I really don't want the medical workers to suffer more than they already have. They're stressed enough as it is.

And I'm not saying we shouldn't open things up. It just needs to be done smartly. Wearing masks in public places and respecting other people's boundaries should be easy to do. But too many can't even do that. Meh.

I'm starting to realize the a good chunk of our society has very little patience, awareness, or empathy and are just going to do what they want to do after a solid 40 days of having to spend a little bit more time with their family without their Friday night Applebee's trip to drink 22oz Bud Lahhts, blow off steam and flirt creepily with the half-their-age waitress.

I'm sliding into "f it, just open it up, I'll take my chances" territory. Wife and I are healthier than probably 98% of the American population of any age, and it's almost certain we'd be fine. I don't want to be in that place. I don't want old and compromised folks to die. I'm also being exhausted and overwhelmed by the anti-science folks and the "muh freedom muh economy" folks and poorly thought out plans by some in leadership.

Starting to selfishly just feel like "we'll be fine, let's do it". Our leadership is pushing us that direction anyway, let's stop pretending we're going to do it in any sort of data-driven or intelligent fashion and just go full #YOLO.

ETA: That's not where I want to be, and I'm perfectly fine staying home. I could do it for the entire summer with very little issue. I've enjoyed the hell out of the extra time with my family. The lack of alone time and quiet can be overwhelming at times, but I like my family. Saving a lot of money. Plus I have a pool now so I'm good.

ETA2: I also realize we're dealing with a vocal minority, and the majority of our society is treating the situation with the gravity it deserves.

This is false and actual research has shown there are several strains circulating. Some with possibly different properties in terms if infectiousness and possibly severity.

The article cites a huge amount of very credible sources from very credible universities. I tend to believe this over an unpublished paper with no actual hard evidence from a web site that will publish anything.

So every day on the news for the last week or so, one of their main headlines has been the food shortages. When I went to the store today, I didn't see much evidence of it. Plenty of meat available. Plenty of everything, really (except Lysol spray and Clorox wipes). Am I just fortunate to live in an area that hasn't been hit by this yet or is the media hyping this way too much?

Yes. My local Harris Teeter has hardly had anything for about a month now

Note the semantics involved here - his point is that while there are variations resulting viral replication, they are almost entirely inconsequential as to the virus's relationship to humans. He's not saying there aren't identifiable variations in the genome, he's saying calling them "different strains" and speculating about their infectiousness or pathology is overblown - the differences may be scientifically true, but the impact is not appreciable.

I have seen similar analysis. All identified "strains" of SARS2 still share 80% of the same genome . . . in the animal world, that would mean substantial differences (i.e. chimps and humans share 98% of the same DNA), but apparently in the world of RNA viruses, that's actually very, very close.

Fauci's been getting death threats from the left?
Or is it leftist agitators who're doing heavily armed protests?
I missed the part where Haight-Ashbury is rioting because tattoo parlors are closed.
This isn't a "both sides" issue, don't pretend that it is.
One orange person and his pet 'news' network are the ones pushing this.

YES. This "both sides" false equivalency stuff is BS of the highest order. I'm not saying the left is pure as the driven snow, but to present them as equally bad in all of this is ludicrous.

Yeah, the protest that orders requiring face masks are unconstitutional and fascist really baffle me.

I wonder if these same people would support a protest against anti-nudity laws as being unconstitutional and fascist.

Why have they never protested "no shirt, no shoes, no service" restrictions?
I would venture that the same people that are mad about requiring a mask would support a requirement to keep pants from sagging.

The fact that we are even having a discussion about how bad the far end of each political group (cult) has gone over the edge in a thread about a global pandemic... tells you that... Yes... both sides need to be burned to the ground, and are equally insane.

I am so burnt out hearing one side insanely claim we need to keep the whole country closed, and the other equally insane side claim that we need to open up everything...

Both sides are equally dumb, and equally harmful in different ways...

It's time for some common sense driven decisions to be made, and the partisan hacks, crows. and sheep herds on both sides need to shut up.

There is no "one size fits all" - "everyone needs to do this" solution here... Places like Tensas Parish can open now... Places like Orleans Parish need to wait. Not sure why this can't be understood from either side.

Places that do open up need to implement best practices in necessary travel, sanitation and distancing. Our most vulnerable people (Elderly and Pre-existing condition folks) need to stay quarantined and be taken care of by the healthy people that are not at risk. Healthy people that have little to no chance of dying from this, need to be put back to work in areas where the virus has not been an issue, and the Healthcare system is not under pressure.

This doesn't have to be a "black or white" decision of KIll People, or Kill the Economy... this is an asinine - shortsighted - ignorant discussion and standpoint on either side.

We do not have a Vaccine, we will not have one for the foreseeable future... We will have to live with this virus... We can't hide from it (just read Gov. Cuomo said 66% of his NY Covid patients have gotten the virus while staying home) ... Most of us will get it... the question is not if... but when? And how do we manage it so we don't swamp the hospitals? And how do we protect the people most likely to die from it?

Everything else is partisan BS... and I am sick of all of it.
