I'm not wasting a second on that anti-vaxxer crackpot fake-science fraud w/ a criminal record and debunked 'research'...

I watched the 25 minute trailer yesterday. There was so much going on, so many allegations. I was jotting down notes of topics to research deeper rather than just take her word for it. Once I realized I would be spending hours/days on research, I decided to just research her. Yeah, I'd say a much less than credible source with an axe to grind with Dr Fauci. Sadly, most people will watch and take it at face value with no research at all. Because that takes work, and who has time for that?

I have and more... I don't expect you to get it, or even acknowledge it, because you follow of one these political groups (cults) and will argue anything that is not in lock step with your ideology... even if it's plain as falling rain.

The point is... Locking down all "non-essential" commerce in the entire State and killing people's life long efforts, and putting family livelihoods at permanent risk... Instead of just quarantining the most highly populated areas that are actually being impacted and need the mitigation efforts enforced... while not going above and beyond to protect the most vulnerable people in our communities (Elderly and People with pre-existing conditions)... while not allowing these lesser impacted areas to return to commerce in a more sanitary, travel restricted, and socially distant fashion... Is uh... Dumb....

Just as Dumb as say... Just re-opening States' commerce everywhere no matter the situation, region, or clear indicators for specific areas... and with no regard for Healthcare capacity.... and no clear plan for mitigating spread... while just saying "well we have flattened the curve, back to work"... Equally dumb...

Equally partisan and extremely short sighted views... all Equally meant to keep dividing us upon dumb party lines... I am Equally sick of all of it.

Also, None of what I said is directed at you, so please feel free to ignore me.

Is this supposed to be ironic? I hope it's supposed to be ironic. But just in case: you know what happens when you lock some areas down and not others, even though they aren't affected? People leave the locked down areas and go to the ones that aren't locked down. Which spreads the virus. Exactly what we're trying to avoid.

We can't protect anyone if we don't try to protect everyone. There are no degrees in a pandemic like this. Don't believe me? All you have to do is look at what happened in New York before the governor issued a statewide lockdown. People were leaving NYC to go upstate, or to New Jersey or Connecticut, which spread the virus across the entire area even more quickly. It's exactly why the governors of those three states made an agreement to do everything together.

We know how to stop this. We've been shown the way. We refuse to do it. We put money before lives. USA! USA! USA!

This thread has become nothing but a political griping the last few days and the mods haven't been doing much about it, so I am bowing out.

I can't believe I'm going to do this, but I agree with you. Not necessarily the shot at the mods, but that there's a lot of political chatter on this thread. I've been mostly using it for information and it's been a great resource, but it's gotten watered down by a lot of the political talk. And I agree with about 95% of the shots at the administration, but it's just not what I'm looking to see in this thread.

I am guilty of a few political posts about the local government here in Texas, so not throwing stones, just saying I agree in general with this poster.

I think it's just a product of a lull in the news. We're all sort of just waiting to see what happens as states move to open things up.

Fauci's been getting death threats from the left?
Or is it leftist agitators who're doing heavily armed protests?
I missed the part where Haight-Ashbury is rioting because tattoo parlors are closed.
This isn't a "both sides" issue, don't pretend that it is.
One orange person and his pet 'news' network are the ones pushing this.
I don’t know, and don’t really care. So much BS thrown all over the place that I don’t even care really...left/right thing is so full of stupid that it is not even worth the effort. Honestly, I like to take other sides or different angles to see what people think not because I have some actual opinion on the issue but to see how a person responds. I have many thoughts and beliefs that don’t fit this left/right clown party.
Mass media is also full of subversion of people and covering politicians who typically don't give a two sheets in the wind about the common person. I guess I am just cynic.

I actually agree with you both but rage quitting twice in one thread isn't really all that necessary. With that said, all of the conspiracy theory sheet transcends that political barrier. If you want to believe it's just the flu, you shouldn't wear a mask and that the media, democrats, 5G, China, Fauci, the meat industry, CDC, NIH and Bill Gates are making it up BUT if you do get Covid just take some Malaria medicine and you'll be fine then you're a forking moron and it's on par with complaining about people trying to stop you from driving drunk.

Agreed. I'm not defending Merl being a drama queen, just saying I agree with his general point.

It ebbs and flows. It's definitely slower, and for better or worse, ultimately, solutions are going to have a political component to them. We can't avoid it entirely. Sometimes I'd rather let people here suss things out and move on. But the last couple of pages was a bit too much of the back and forth on how we should respond to the shut downs and opening things back up. We're in uncharted waters and I just want to let people be themselves and state their opinion. There's room for debate. We won't always get it right or perfect, that balance is hard to nail down at times.

I'd like to keep the discussion cordial as possible and keep this thing going because there will come a day when we will be a source of information when we learn more about the virus and the carnage its leaving in its wake. I think we all want to get through this because we do care about our families and friends.

Not everyone will agree with how to continue the dialogue, but we're doing the best we can.
