Maybe more people would wear masks if they looked more fashionable and stylish. Most people are sheep and will follow whatever celebrity star-of-the-moment is doing. Get some designers to make masks then pay these celebrity types to post selfies on every social media platform. Make em red, white and blue, camo, with the swoosh, the UA, etc. Maybe it would help.

They're already doing that. I've seen a few interesting looking ones. They're just not widely available yet.

Costco is doing the right thing. These selfish, uncaring jerks who refuse to wear a mask need to be put in their place. And that place is outside the store. I'm glad she won't shop at Costco any more. I'll feel safer since I won't be breathing in her droplets though my mask.

It's not political; it's a matter of public safety and order. You stop at a red light or a stop sign. That's not an impediment to your freedom. I live in a town that could renamed "Four Way Stop Town." It's annoying, but it's the law--and it's a lot more annoying than wearing a mask. We sacrifice a lot of things for the sake of order and public safety. Do these yahoos suggest that we ignore traffic restrictions?

We live in a society, and that means that my freedom to swing my arm ends with the person next to me's nose. To me, not wearing a mask in a building under these circumstances is tantamount to an assault with a microscopic weapon.

Yeah this isnt even a part of the open up or not discussion IMO

Fair. NOLA has been there for 2 weeks or more. Other places not so much.

Where are you getting this information? You may be right, but I'm not aware of this being the case.

And which test are you talking about? The antibody test or the test to see if you have the virus?

Yeah, I agree. We have to be smart about opening back up. If we go back to January business as usual, we're gonna be in a world of hurt. But if we're smart and slowly open things back up, I think it's doable.

Too many people still think it's no big deal and they have nothing to worry about.
My stance is we have to open up. I have zero faith that it'll be done slowly or smart. It's going to be a train wreck. People are far too ignorant and/or selfish to do what has to be done to keep this thing from blowing back up. I fully expect us to relive the last 6-8 weeks over and over through next spring.

Which part? I have already posted the preprint article that states their are at least two strains with one being more infectious. I don't think its questionable at this point that there is more than one strain. As for the differing functions that was why I used the word possible because that hasn't been proven yet.

Here is a study that points out there are at least 2 strains. They name L and S type.

Here is the preprint that claims there are different strains with one being more contagious.

Another preprint that suggests 30 different strains with some capable of producing higher viral loads than others (up to 270 times higher in some cases). Didn't we discuss a while back how a higher viral load leads to more severe disease? Chuck?

Another paper showing 3 different strains.

There are more if you feel like taking the time to search for them.

Very interesting article that goes into the mutations of the virus, its affinity for high blood sugar, the differemce in severity between the east and west coast, and the specific circumstances how hydroxychloroqine may work which would show why testing was inconclusive
