I think it's fair to say she has exceeded expectations.
For the record I'll say this.
Anthony isn't good enough in coverage to play the Will position. Thats why he's only being used as a SAM. So in his defense with Robertson moving over the next guy up was Stupar who is also solid in coverage as well.
There is still time for both of them but I don't see Peat playing anywhere but LG in the future including next year and we'll still be looking for a RT soon. On the Flip side Robertson is under contract until next year and he's better used in the middle because his man to man skills aren't WLB worthy. His coverage was merely OK as rated by PFF in the few weeks he was at WLB.
To me he is Vilma light and would be best served covering zones over the Middle vs walking out on a Slot WR at WLB or being assigned Coverage responsibilities on the shiftier RB's in the league.
Anthony so far is behind the 8ball. It would def be different if he had coverage ability and just needed time to learn play calling but he's gotta improve in 2 of the 3 facets it takes to be a MLB. Coverage/Play Recognition. Neither were his strong suits coming in.......I can't see how thats going to change much moving forward.
Its a coaches league and coaches will always think they can coach up players "Tyeler Davison" was that type of pick...but some guys don't take to the coaching.
Could be what we are seeing here.
Robertson is a stud. Keeper. Stud. Said so many times.
That being said, is it just me? Are are still getting getting gashed for too many runs up the middle. Reuben Foster, paired with Robertson.
I'd love to see it.
I'm not sure about the Vilma comparisons... Robertson seems miles ahead of Vilma was in terms of defending the run and delivering hard shots and form tackling. I think Vilma was great, but his strength was in coverage.
Oh well...I felt all preseason that we absolutely had to figure out how to get Robertson on the field; this forces our hand. I have a feeling this guy has star potential. We got a steal; Cleveland is so clueless.
It would be nice to have them both, but I am glad we now get to see a lot of Robertson this weekend. He is a defensive back in a linebackers body when it comes to pass coverage and a playmaker. I fully expect him to make a couple of impact plays Sunday. Book it.
We absolutely, positively HAVE to find a way to get this guy on the field on 3rd downs, if not all downs. He is a coverage SPECIALIST from the linebacker position.
My thoughts exactly. Not only that, but he had pretty good coverage, the pass and catch to Ginn were off-the-charts perfect.
Yea, Craig could stand to lose 10-15 pounds. If he did, I think he would be as good as Vilma. (Ellerbe's weight is also not ideal)
Interesting. I thought our interior defense was above average/good yesterday?
