Cromartie @ 10 or is that a reach? (1 Viewer)

How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?... Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.

If the DTs are gone and we can't move down - DRC would be fine by me. See Guillermo's explanation.

I feel the same way, Soggy. If both Ellis and Dorsey are gone by #10, we should stay put and get DRC over any of the other corners.

Uncle Rico: "Hey Napolean see those mountains, watch this?"

Throws ball, goes 15 yards, then skips off of the ground while coming to a halt. 3,000 yards short of the mountains!

I wish I could have seen that :( Is it available online somewhere? I searched the NFL's Combine website, but it was nowhere to be found. By me.

It just played again. The commentators (including Deion) were very outspoken. They did a freaking instant replay of his drill and his only. I don't know much about these drills and they all look similar to me but his still stood out. He's also got a very focused look on his face. I wouldn't mind seeing that face inside a black and gold helmet.

Somebody needs to archive this thread and pull it back out in three years...

Mike Mamula was a workout stud who blew away scouts at the combine, went in the 1st round, and then the Eagles found out he couldn't play football.

DRC went to a Division II school -which in of itself isn't a bad thing, we have two players starting for us right now.. and people would argue that Marques Colston should have been a 1st round pick based on what he has done in the pros, but he went in the 7th.

Hype and workout numbers gets people excited, but has little (if any bearing) on how good a football player someone is... that's what tape is for -and even then you still end up with the Ryan Leafs, Jonathan Sullivans and so on -and no one will come back on this board and announce that they still stand by those guys as the best players at their position in the draft -yet someone had these guys ranked that high.

I'm not saying DRC is a bust waiting to happen... but at this point, he could be the next Deion Sanders or he could be the next Alex Molden.

I don't think he's the 10th best player in the draft at this point... but keep in mind, I haven't broken down a single piece of coaches film, nor have I talked to a single scout, or interviewed a single coach. I watched some of the combine, some clips on You Tube, and read a few write-ups about him.

Hardly in a position to determine whether he is a reach or not... but at this point, I'd say he's a reach to go in the top 10.

I've been saying as much, but people love him. Its that size/speed combo that just wows folks. I just get freaked out when I hear the words Jonathon Sullivan and Alex Molden... If they pull the trigger it better pay off. I hate risky choices with high picks, I think its always better to draft lower and more often (i.e. trade down if at all possible)

Kiper has DRC gone at 10 (not that that means anything) except the buzz about DRC has grown to such an extent that he is considered the top CB in the draft by a growing number of mocks. Still, the most I see at the http://hailredskins.com/MockDraft.htm website have Leodis as the top CB. I would be ecstatic to see either one picked by the Saints. I don't want Mike Jenkins.

I think this is a super reach at # 10 as are all the corners in this draft. DT is our main need.

That aspect seems to be my only fear. Is he this year's Akili Smith? But so many things point to him being the real deal - particularly the Senior Bowl and the combines where he looked exceptional. I don't I'd think be upset if we gambled on him.

Pick # 10

DRC?

I know everyone on this board wants him, but how does anyone on this board really know if he would even start at nickel CB. I know we all hope to have huge leads and be playing a lot of dime, but, do we really want to take a guy who would only be in one of our defensive sets. Dorsey, Ellis, Balmer, or Rivers would all start from day one. For my money, that is what a first round pick does. You guys didn't get enough with R. Meachem. I like the kid, but I really don't want another first rounder who doesn't get to play a whole lot. That all being said, he may be great. In three years. You wanna wait. Honestly? With Farve retiring, the Saints are no worse than the third seed in the NFC behind Dallas and NY Giants. Why get DRC (not banging on him btw, you can make this case for all CB's in this draft) in the 1st when we don't even know if he could beat out U. Young? I understand it if MM is completely done. But why not get a huge body to keep Vilma free, and a young WLB in the 2nd to speed up the LB's. I like this.
Smith/Young/Balmer/Grant
Fujita/Vilma/Highsmith
MM/Kaesviharn/Harper/Gay (Young/David)
Obviously I'd rather Dorsey or Ellis and in the 2nd, Mayo, Lofton, etc. but even this worst case scenario ain't that bad a D. BYW, I think Patrick Lee will be available in the 3rd. Also, why is everybody so worried about Dorsey's injury and not DRC's. Dorsey missed a few games and DRC missed a whole season. Please, someone explain this all to me.

My lil brother went to school with DRC and always told me how good he was and my first time watching him play was in the Senior Bowl... BTW, my lil brother also told me he wish the Saints would draft Devin Hester during his last year at the U.

there is no way this happens. he will not be the best player available at number 10. and personally, i feel that we dont have two or three years to let more players develop. we are talented now, and need to win now. i dont care if its a corner or a backer, but we need an impact player now. esp. if you take into consideration who we drafted in the first round last year.
