Coach Sean Payton had a ZOOM press conference where he discussed the Saints 3 draft additions, his vision for the players, and some other interesting little nuggets...
Of course Payton stayed that the Saints have a clear vision for their selections and the players. Some of the things that really stood out to me:
- Payton stated that he envisions Zack Baun to play MIKE and some SAM. He also said they were surprised Baun fell and they were trying to move up all day yesterday.
- The Saints loved Ruiz and the 1st round fell exactly as they had hoped. Ruiz is expected to start, and Warford will have to “compete”.
- The Saints were watching Javon Kinlaw and AJ Terrell, and had both players rated very highly.
- Payton sees Trautman as a true “Y” and loves his blocking ability and short-area quickness in his routes. Very excited about Trautman.
- Saints feel that they will be very prepared for the UDFA signing period, and the fact that they only made 3 selections will help them identify and lure UDFA’s to sign with the Saints.
