Curtis Lofton highlight video (2 Viewers)

If he runs under a 4.5 he will definitely be worth top 10 consideration. Look how P-willy did after his awesome time last year. Please Mr. Payton, can we have a game changing MLB?

Curtis Lofton would have been just an average middle linebacker in SEC. He played well against inferior athletes in a weak Big 12.

#40 Lofton looks slow, takes bad angles, and gets swallowed up by blockers...cannot shed blockers very well at all.

...Lofton, The Kansas City Star’s defensive player of the year, possesses the numbers necessary for all of the honors coming his way. He ranks ninth nationally in tackles per game at 11, and his 133 for the season are the most in the Bob Stoops era, topping a list that includes All-Americans Rocky Calmus, Teddy Lehman and Rufus Alexander.

But tackles tell only part of Lofton’s story. His big plays have come to define the Sooners’ defense.

Saturday, Lofton completed a game-changing goal-line stand against Oklahoma State by forcing a fumble on fourth down. Instead of having their advantage sliced to 21-14, the inspired Sooners marched down the field and went ahead by three touchdowns.

A blitzing Lofton tipped a pass that resulted in an interception at Iowa State. The play prevented the Cyclones from tying the game in the fourth quarter.

Early in the third quarter against Texas, Longhorns running back Jamaal Charles looked as if he had a touchdown. But before he got to the end zone, Lofton knocked the ball loose and the Sooners recovered, keeping a game tied that Oklahoma won by a touchdown.

Against Missouri, Lofton recorded a season-high 18 tackles, and when miscommunication caused a fumbled exchange between Tigers quarterback Chase Daniel and Jeremy Maclin, Lofton scooped it up and carried it 12 yards for a touchdown that clinched the game.

“Look at the plays he’s made — it’s unbelievable,” Stoops said. “How many times has he had a game-changing turnover, whether he caused it or got it?”

BS. I'm an LSU fan, but you're definitely overrating the SEC. The Big 12 had 3 teams in the top 10 at the end of the season. Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. I don't see how that's considered weak.

Lofton doesn't have the size or speed to be a good starting MLB at the NFL level.

Patrick Willis, 6-1 242 lbs. Ray Lewis 6-1 250 lbs. As for his speed, there's no way to know until he runs at the combine. He looks like he has decent speed in the OP's video.

Both guys were great LB. However both only played in the 3-4. There is speculation that these guys would never have been as good in a 4-3.

we can get this guy at #2 or #3 pick with his 40 time today. Mayo might be selected in the 1st round

I really like this guy, built well, moves well, hits hard, but in our scheme the mlb seems to run and cover a lot, he might get exposed, but I also like drafting highsmith late.

I'm on the Lofton bandwagon officially. He's a short stocky guy, but did you see his build ? He's built like a bowling ball and runs over people like they are bowling pins. You know that guy Zach Thomas we tried to sign ? This is Zach Thomas on steroids !!!! This dude can take a poor rush defense and turn it around over night. Speed? He ran a 4.7 flat @ 246lbs....thats AMAZING !!

****BUMP***

Curtis Lofton pro day: http://www.soonersports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/031108aaa.html

He improved his 40 time for 4.77 at the combine to 4.67 at his proday, and then ran another 4.67 right after. He measured 6'0 243lbs, similiar to his wieght at the combine.

I know there may not be a roster spot for this guy, but I would still love him on the saints. Put him in somewhere. I think however, after his proday, he won't make it passed the 25th pick.
