Curtis Lofton's Pro Day (1 Viewer)

You are correct. Drafting Lofton in the 2nd would almost be an admission that Vilma might not hold up all season. He is a great player but timing seems wrong for him to wind up here. Adibi or Henderson in the 2nd could give Saints a prospect to groom at olb.

You don't not pick a player because you traded for an injured guy who plays the same position. We pick BPA regardless, and if Lofton is the guy we should pick him. He and Vilma are both athletic enough to play both positions so its not even that much of a conflict.

I was disappointed to see that Malcolm Kelly didn't work-out at the Pro-Day... I guess he'll do his thang at the next one.

If Kelly can come out and run a really good 40 at his work-out, that could help us out ALOT IMO. If Kelly shows himself to be the clear-cut, top WR in this draft... then teams that need a WR (like Chicago) may be more inclined to give us a really sweet deal to try and move up ahead of Buffalo to get him.

You beat me to it, if he's the BPA then he will be a Saint.

If it were between Lofton and Mayo in the 2nd round... I'd have to gith Mayo. Lofton is a better "pure" MLB IMO, but Mayo would make a better Will... and that's what we really need.

My fingers are crossed that he is there when the Saints 2nd rounder rolls around, but he will probably go late 1st round.

I love Lofton inside. He has a nose for the ball like Dan Morgan, and brings the wood like Vaugn Johnson.

We could use Vilma and Fujita outside.

Under Fujita, Morgan and Vilma's tutilege, Lofton should develop quickly.

VIlma is a bonafide top 3 MLB, potential perennial pro-bowler when healthy. The guy is beast mode. I highly, highly doubt you will ever see Vilma moved outside during his career with the Saints.

i agree

though i do think lofton is a better overall player slightly. but like you said, he is 100% ILB.

I would be shocked if a true MLB is picked on day 1 by us in this draft. I could see us drafting a TE in round 2 before I could see us going MLB. Outside linebacker is a whole different story though.

I love Mayo also, but he won't be their at our 2nd pick. Even ESPN is jumping on the Mayo in the 1st round bandwagon now.

Malcolm Kelly may be in for a free fall. There are some serious concerns about his knee according to Mike Mayock on "Path to the Draft" the other night.

Curtis Lofton is a good prospect. I wouldn't mind picking him in the 2nd round if he is still there but part of me thinks someone in that 33-39 range may pull the trigger on him.

The guy I'd love to see fall to the Saints is Jerod Mayo. He is more comfortable at OLB and has a touch better athleticism. Kiper has him going late first round though, so he may not get to us.

Awful lot of players making the "jump" into the first round now. Seems like there's about 50 players projected to go in the first round for 31 picks.

I think somebody we want is going to drop to us in the second and we'll jump all over it.

Well, in the case of Mayo, most are saying Dan Conner isn't a 1st rounder anymore and that Mayo has surpassed him.

Your right though. One of the top 5 LB's (Mayo, Conner, Rivers, Lofton, Adibi) will be there at our 2nd pick as well as one of the top 5 CB's. We'll get a good player regardless.
