Who's getting cut and when will they start?

What kind of cap space can be found? Is it all an illusion?

Can we afford to get rid of all or any of the players, the cap villains that have been targeted by us and others for the axe, ie Smith, Harper, Greer, Vilma. Or will the restructuring magic take over and preserve all these players for another year or years? Will we be better off just getting rid of all of them?

those who are bolded with either be cut or traded although i am on the fence about J. vilma

Two things will contribute to lots of cuts.

1)New DC, no loyalty to underperforming deadweight players
2)3-4 defense is cheaper since it doesn't pay DL and MLB huge salaries

W.Smith, Vilma are likely severely demoted in salary or outright cut
Its easier or find ILB to play the 3-4. Maybe not Willis or Bowman but guys like Ellerbe or Bruce Carter are mid round picks....

DE Jordan
NT Bunkley/Hicks
DE Branden Jenkins/Hicks

ROLB Galette/Dion Jordan
SILB Hawthorn/Wilson
WILB Lofton
LOLB Spencer

CB Greer
CB Robinson
CB Jenkins/White
FS Ed Reed/IAQ
SS Draft pick

The following players can be cut/traded/ or given a more team friendly cap figure.

Will Smith
Turk Mcbride
Broderick Bunkley
Michael Hawthorne
Will Herring
Jonathan Casillas
Jonathan Vilma
Scott Shanle
Curtis Lofton
Jabari Greer
Johnny Patrick
Roman Harper
Malcolm Jenkins
Courtney Roby
Lance Moore
Darren Sproles

we wont be better off getting rid of our better players

thats why we have loomis to figure out these cap numbers. we arent the only team in cap trouble this offseason....if i remember correctly the texans have 20 free agents this year....all we have to do is move some decimal points....thats far easier than re-signing half the team
