CRAY CRAY!!
I told my bestie at work who has the misfortune of being a Cowboys fan. I have good news for ya and bad news. Good news Dak was 8 of 10 for 20 yards. Bad news the Cowboys lost. He was downtrodden I said got ya. He said well if it was real at least his passing percentage improved.I'd tell Prescott to take his market value and shove it. He can sit out and even if they bomb this year, they can have pick of the litter on whatever QB they want in the 2020 Draft and that QB could likely average 3600 yards, 22 TD's, and a 66% completion percentage.
He's not the cog that keeps that engine running, it's Zeke and that OL. In his rookie season, the Cowboys offense was 5th in points. In 2017 they fell to 14th. Last year they were 22nd.
With Prescott at QB, the Cowboys are 0-7 in games where Elliott has less than 75 yards rushing (0-8 including their playoff loss against the Rams last year). Conversely, they are 28-6 when he gains 75 yards or more.
Prescott is nothing but a game manager.
Cowboys are not willing at this time to pay arguably the most versatile RB in the league that has the power and speed. What makes you think they will be willing to bone up 30 mil/year for a QB, that in no way shape or form, is close to a top tier calber?I don't see how Dak can be tier 4 on any standard - some of those guys are really struggling and/or haven't had anywhere near the success Dak has had. Carr is a huge question mark after starting fairly strong. Mariota might lose his starting job. Darnold (edit) who knows. Trubisky just isn't there yet and might not get there. Winston can't stay healthy.
Avg. annual pay of tier 3: $28.125M
Funny you chose the “less than 75 yards stat.” Zeke had exactly 75 when they beat us last year. With Prescott at QB, the Cowboys are 0-7 in games where Elliott has less than 75 yards rushing (0-8 including their playoff loss against the Rams last year). This is not the way to look at itI mean, as a non-Cowboys fan I hope they give him the moon, honestly.![]()
That game suckedFunny you chose the “less than 75 yards stat.” Zeke had exactly 75 when they beat us last year.
There multiple reports that they have offered him $30M - so that’s what makes me think they’re willing to offer it. I think people think $30M is some pie-in-the-sky number, but there are now six QBs making $30M and the cap keeps growing because league revenue growth is strong and seemingly getting stronger. If you believe in your franchise QB these days, $30M is the new threshold.Cowboys are not willing at this time to pay arguably the most versatile RB in the league that has the power and speed. While the way you equate his value, there is no way Jones is that foolish to bone up 30 mil/year, long term. And I would bet, no other team is either. But good luck to Dak and his agent.
And keep up the great work on providing numbers, that do not necessarily agree with reality. The stats are one thing. But some thing and or some player, is only worth what someone will pay for same. Think of it like a piece of artwork. A Rembrandt may have a value of 30 mil., but only if the person that currently owns it, can sell it to someone else for 30 mil. If not, what real value does it have? Dak may be in that same boat.
LOL
CRAY CRAY!!
PFT are the ones who always get the "Payton to Dallas" thing going every offseason. I'm skeptical they cover the Cowboys in an unbiased way.Other report that the OP report is false.
This is exactly it, the excuse using is that Dak is a winner. They will also make Dak feel like he is a team player cuz he not getting what he want. But in reality he really not that good. There multiple reports that they have offered him $30M - so that’s what makes me think they’re willing to offer it. Carson Wentz signed for $32M per and his numbers really aren't that different than Dak's.
The editor of Sportrac - the site that compiles all of the player contract information - thinks Dak is going to sign for something that averages out to about $32M (and above his actual worth). We can all be arm-chair GMs and say that's crazy, but again, it's about the market, not necessarily the individual's objective worth. The owner wants to win now - not let this successful QB go and head back to the draft (where results are substantially mixed). The player has a substantial amount of leverage and $30M is no longer at the top of the market. I think it's going to be that or very close to it, if not more.
What QB tier would Dak be on? To me he's a tier 3, maybe even tier 4 QB.
Tier 1 - Brady, Brees, Luck, Wilson, Rodgers, Mahomes
Tier 2 - Watson, Rivers, Big Ben, Baker, Wentz, Goff
Tier 3 - Jimmy G, Stafford, Ryan, Cousins, Dak?
Tier 4 - Carr, Cam, Darnold, Trubisky, Winston, Mariota

That was just off the top of my head but yeah Matt Ryan should be in tier 2. He's put up some good numbers.Last year:
Baker - 27 TD’s / 14 INT’s (93 QB Rating)
Ryan 35 TD’s / 7 INTS (108 QB rating)
But Baker is a tier above Ryan? Jimmy G with 17 TD’s / 8 INTS in his career on the same level.....
I’d put Dak tier 3/4 and worth no where close to 30 million.
I don't think hes a 20mil a year qb. Brees and Brady are both playing for 25. Their age, desire to win and total career earnings obviously play a role in this. But Dak isn't half the QB Brady is. I can't see how they can be competitive paying that man 30 mil a year. He's not a $40 million a year QB.
Dak didn't even perform until they got Cooper added to the fold and the Dallas offense struggled mightily until Coopers arrival...Dak would have to put together a deep playoff season for the Cowboys to be comfortable enough to pay that.
