Did anyone else notice Danny Clark's play in the red zone yesterday? He was awesome! Not only did he make several tackles BEHIND the line of scrimmage, but he once had to cover Crumpler and stuck to him like glue, which caused a sack of Vick.

It was great seeing that we had a Sam Mills type linebacker in there in the short red zone again.

Yes. I represented on a thread yesterday. Go Danny Clark.

He usually plays that way when he is in. Kinda makes me wonder why he doesn't play more then just in goaline situations.

Because goaline situations is where he looks that good :) He's situational for our defense. Very good, great inside run stuffer. Liability in coverage, not anymore sideline-to-sideline then Simoneau

Shame he's not better in coverage 'cause he's clearly a beast against the inside run.

It seems like there’s been a couple other games in which he came up with some big plays in the red zone. When I saw that big tackle yesterday, I immediately thought “Let me guess.. Danny Clark.” And sure enough…

Om the fourth and 1 where Dunn scored I noticed Simoneau on his back in the endzone where was Danny? He was in there for the previous 2 or 3 plays.

I haven't seen Simoneaux make enough plays in run defense, blitzing or coverage to justify not seeing Danny Clark in the starting spot but obviously I'll defer to the coaching staff that's got us to 7-4.

Didn't Clark actually have 2 stops inside the 5 yard line?

I noticed that too. they pulled Clark and put in Simoneau. must have been thinking it was a passing down.

I for one don't understand this liability in coverage crud. Clark has been great in coverage on goaline situations, always picking up his man. Plus he actually makes tackles.

On the other hand, Simoneau, well he probably has less tackles than Clark, yet he has played in about 30 times more plays than Clark. Your middle linebacker should be making more than 2-3 tackles per game.

never had problems with the Raiders in coverage. he was deemed an every down LBer. he just was phased out because of his cap number and the youth movement on their defense. none of you have seen the guy cover this year, yet you make these statements. remember what they said about Colston he wasn't fast enough to get seperation and was a tweener, well he showed them. IMO it has more to do with the knowledge of the playbook or lack there of.

The Raiders release had absoloutely nothing to due with youth or contract since Danny Clark is neither particularly old nor was the final year on his 3 year - 3 million dollar contract particularly expensive. He was released because they moved Kirk Morrison inside, making room for Sam Williams. Clark was then released and the Saints picked him up at near the NFL vet-minimum.

Danny Clark sat on the bench in Nickel and Dime situations with the Raiders suggesting he was a liability in pass coverage.

OK... the guy was a liability in coverage yet he was a 100 tackle guy. I say give him a shot... he may just get his shot next week because Sim has a hand problem that he needed to see a specialist for. I just saw Payton's press and he opened with the injuries.

Back to Clark... who exactly said he was bad in coverage? All I know is that the guy finds the ball and makes the takle... is that not what a MLB is paid to do? As far as his problems in coverage... lets see...

he also played 76 % percent of the radiers defensive plays the past 2 years, but he never played in anickle situation???? i can see dime, but he defintely played in the nickel. there is no way he played that much and wasn't on the field in nickel situations
