its driving me mad as i have a co worker that says "dahta".
 
I use them both interchangeably. More aggravating to me is when people treat data as singular.

i view "data" as a group of datum (and what ultranerds ever use that word), not individual pieces

sort of like not viewing individual pieces of dirt in wheelbarrow of dirt

"yo, that dirt're wet... they're gonna be hard to spread"

I had a hard time with using singular - had to work at reminding myself. Much better at it now.
