99.99999% sure that's not *that* coach Pete.

Pretty sure *that* coach Pete ran a gym or trained clients there and people here have posted links to his site.
Well "that" Coach Pete Has hasda relationship w/him & knew much of his background & situation. He has helped pro/college athletes for years & is in the local.
What makes you 99.999999% sure?

Because, as I said, the link to that coach Pete was posted here a long time ago. And that’s not him.

Props to "Coach Pete".

"Davenport didn’t just work on the mental aspect of the game. He also was able to get in outside training with Pete Jenkins, a retired defensive line coach of over 50 years who still mentors NFL prospects and veteran players, and B.T. Jordan, another line play specialist. And he felt fortunate to continue to build this offseason without any limitations from lingering injuries."
Coach Pete Jenkins is a legend. Not Swimmer’s guy

Davenport has had similar luck to TQS as far as staying dinged up. Neither have missed tons of time, but just enough each year that it is a pattern that you come to expect. I don't really have anything too negative to say about Davenport's play. He's a freak of an athlete who's presence is always noticeable. He's consistent. I don't think he's really unlocked his potential yet, though, which is kind of crazy. I feel when the light bulb completely comes on for him, it's going to be fun to watch.

People have been a little hard on him because of the three draft picks it took to draft him, which is sort of understandable, but that was more on the Saints' desperation to fill a need than it was Davenport. We knew he was raw and would take time to develop. I wish him a great year. I think this could certainly be the year that he silences any lingering doubt. It does start with staying healthy, and that goes for everyone, but it's a testament to Davenport that he is so missed when he has been out. So, I do hope for his sake and ours that he can stay healthy this season.

I think that's what was most detrimetal to him, people...fans, were coming down on him as if it was his fault the Saints moved up to select him. His 3 years all started with his mindset and not letting things get to him, just seems like it's finally clicking this year.

The only thing I disagree with is that the Saints were desperate. I don't think it was that, though there are 32 picks in the 1st round of a draft - it doesn't mean there are actually 32 1st round talents. I recall covering that draft pretty extensively and most of the pundits agreed that there were 12-15 legitimate 1st round talents in the draft.

Davenport was one of the 15.

Saints saw a chance to get a top 15 player...that's not desperation..that's smart drafting.

His production has not matched the price in draft picks paid to acquire him. Under the NFL's hard salary-cap business model, high draft picks not only need to be productive, but need to be productive well before they can become free agents and command a substantial contract. In short, they need to produce by year two, not by year four or five.

Davenport has teased for the first three years. On draft night in 2018, the trade to move up to pick Davenport was questionable. At this time, in retrospect, the trade was not a good one. To justify the price of two first round picks, a team needs to see much more production in a player's first three years than Davenport has delivered.

Yep, which I do understand. It’s not Davenport’s fault for the Saints paying such a high price for him, but since they did, that makes fans extra attentive. I still say there was some desperation there. We’d been struggling for quite some time for a pass rusher opposite Jordan. Okafor was okay there for us, but he was an older, short-term option. We had no depth. I believe I recall that Payton and Loomis were very open about the need beforehand. Not being able to acquire anyone in FA, and there being few options in the draft, the Saints paid a high price to get what they wanted/needed. I do think they liked him a whole lot, but I also think just the pressure to add a pass rusher played into the equation, especially when you consider what we gave for a player we knew was so raw. Either way, none of that really matters to me now. He’s been a really good player, still with a ton of potential to take another step.

I wasn't in the room so I am only speculating. With the selection of Davenport, I suspect Sean badly wanted him, Ireland expressed at least reservation over the price paid, and Loomis signed off because of Payton's insistence. My reasoning: Sean is aggressive on and off the field and wanted another Super Bowl; Ireland seems to value future and additional draft picks much more than Payton; and Loomis rarely says no to Payton and made the trade. Obviously, the personnel people gave Davenport a high grade

Davenport can be put in the same category as Rankins being that he has been oft injured. The difference is when he is on the field, he makes an impact almost every play. Rankins was great as well but essentially became replaceable. Same could be said for Armstead, yet he still one of the best LTs in the league. Injuries happen, especially in the trenches. We can hope that this year will be "the" season.

And for the people that claim we gave up too much, you have to look at the value of how those picks were used.
- Pick 1 - Rashaad Penny - doesn't have 1k yard in his career, missed majority last season, now in a crowded backfield
- Pick 2 - Micah Kiser - missed 2019 season, half of 2020, now a free agent
- Pick 3 - Deandre Baker - plays one season in New York, gets into legal trouble, ends up a practice squad player in KC and now is on the main roster.

And let's not forget the Bears trading four picks to move up one spot for Trubisky, who would have been there and isn't even on the team anymore. Not to mention one of those picks got us AK41
