David Letterman extortion (1 Viewer)

ok, i think i'm missing something - what is the real issue here?
is it because these women worked "under" him (for lack of a better phrase)
is the scandal about an abuse of position?
these affairs happened before the marriage yes (an even if no, we're talking about infidelity?)
there's been no indication that the affairs were non-consensual, right?

someone help

One, he's a really private person, throw in an extortion attempt, affairs with young women, and his apparent abuse of power over women that worked for him, and its just a juicy story for the press. Plus, he has to go on T.V. every night during the week and has to talk about it, and his face is everywhere.

The environment is one where charges of sexual harassment and unethical career advancement could be applicable. I like the thought of a secret bedroom overlooking the stage where Ed Sullivan performed all those years. Letterman could be open to those charges, and CBS would again see a prime employee of their network in hot water.
